Key fob wont lock doors, constant beep.

This is a ridiculous problem I know, this is the first car I have owned with auto anything and today it started malfunctioning for no apparent reason.

Today when I parked my Runner and hit the lock button on the fob, the lights did not flash and the locks did not move, but the buzzer under the hood held a constant 10 second beep. I can make the beep stop by hitting the unlock button. The fob will unlock the doors like usual. The PO did not give me an owners manual, i would guess the answer may be in there somewhere? Everything else works like usual.

There are no other fobs in or around the vehicle, and the battery's are fresh. And yes, i have searched :violin:

As simple as it may seem, the doors are correctly closed?

You sir are a genius. Im not completely incompetent but quadruple checking the doors led me to find that my girl must have closed her seat belt in the door at just the right angle and smashed the little door sensor plunger on the passenger side. taped it down for the night, headed to the stealer for my BJ's in the morning anyways...

Thanks very much for the spot-on info. I spent too much time trying to find the answer and it was as simple as a door not fully closed. I have no children home, so it was entirely my bad. You all and this forum have saved me many times over the years. Thanks to one and all. kds
