Key Fob

Hey guys, I was looking for the factory key fob for my girlfriends '98 4Runner. And they have a ton for my Lexus on eBay, but none for hers. They are either 99 and newer, or 97 and older. I found one on another site for 90, but I might as well go to the dealership for that. Any of you know where I can find one? Or do I just need to check eBay here and there. I'm not looking for a used one either. Thanks for any help.

Well there wasn't anything for a 4Runner before '99 on there. I don't understand why they are hard to find. Mine is a '98.

Says for up to a 97 but the FCC ID matches mine so I'd say this will work..

And here:

There are more....so if that doesnt work. Try these search results;

Hope this helps!

That's what I did on eBay and found the same ones. I don't want a used one, because I've had enough problems with new ones on my car. But can anyone else assure me that the 97's work for the 98's?

I am not 100%, but I saw my buddy's 1998 Limited- and the setup looks exactly the same. ECU under the seat, just like mine. Programming was the same as well.

If you have the VIP system, get a remote from this guy. Mine was brand new.... still smelled new.

^Enter your year, I saw one for a 1998^

51 dollars shipped, VERY well worth the money. And now, My wife can open the Runner and put in the baby seat and stroller without complaining! Trust me, MONEY WELL SPENT. :)

Programming this year is s snap- took me like 5 seconds. Locate the ECU under the drivers seat. Put in key, and place in ON position. Press and hold the tiny recessed button on the side of the ECU (the side facing you as you look at it) for 5 seconds. When the system beeps once, just press the top button of the remote once (within three seconds). System will beep twice- indicating a successful program. Turn key off, and close doors. Test top button. Really, it took me all of 5 seconds to get this working.

Good Luck!
