Keyless entries are sometimes not working

Sometimes, My keyless entries are not working no matter how many times I tried....When I first bought the 4Runner, the saleman only gave me one keyless entry....the problem occurred a week later after buying my rig...I hoped that when I got the second keyless entry, it might solve the problem...unfortunately...it haven't....both of them sometimes aren't functioning...any ideal what might be wrong?

Mine works well. The range is perhaps up to 100 ft. or more, much better than the range of the aftermarket system on my '98 Camry.

Is the problem consistent or does it mostly happen in a certain locatin/neighborhood? Have you installed any aftermarket accessories?

The keyless receiver might be sensitive to RF interference generated by nearby high voltage lines, in dash LCD panels, laptop computers, or other electrical devices.

As I recall, It happened at my house frequently and my uncle house once...I finally gave up and use my key..

I did do some aftermarket accessories, but they are nothing related to electronic devices.

sometimes, It happens in the garage which I have the server running...but it also happens at the driveway which is open air...

I think it maybe the signal receiver which is built inside the driverdoor causes the problem.... :arrow: ...shoot me....I'm planning to take it to the dealer, but it always works when I get there!

are you running a wireless network at your house too? that could be a source of interference.....just a thought.
hopefully you can duplicate it for the dealer this time.

Yes, I do run the wireless network at home....hummm....that makes me think........wonder if video signal sender, directTV...disknetwork...and internation saterlite that I run at home will interfere with my keyless entries' signal

Yes, that's possible! Come to think of it, I have all of those and never have any problems with my keyless. Go figure!

Seriously though, if it only happens in one or two, geographic areas, then it's almost certainly related to interference of some sort. Here's the deal though, none of those items SHOULD cause a problem for your keyless. If they are, either one of them is emitting more RF than they are supposed to OR (more likely) your keyless receiver is probably a bit overly sensitive to noise.

Insist that the dealer replace that part, even if they cannot confirm the problem.

Just a thought: Do your remotes fail everywhere, all the time, or just when around your house or only sometimes?

If they don't work anywhere, maybe you need to replace the batteries...

Nah, only sometimes it resists to work. but Most of the time it works fine. It happens inside my garage or driveway. Don't think it is because of battery.

I tried to point my keyless entry up to the sky while standing next to the door, it works. At least, I don't have to try it 30 times.

Maybe, it causes by signal reflection?
