Keyless Entry and Remote Starter

Which Remote Starter + Alarm?

EDIT:

Been looking into some more. Looks like they run anywhere from $100 to $200.

I've looked at some Compustar ones, very nice indeed but somewhat expensive but affordable.

I also saw some other cheaper ones on www.sonicelectronix.com - but I don't know how good they are.

Anyone got a review or a buying guide? Should I stay with the compustar one?

Here is what I need:
-Car Alarm
-Keyless Entry
-Remote Starter
-It can be LCD with the picture of a car and a screen or just a plain one with buttons. Both work.

And also sorry for the multiple post, but can someone explain how it works? Do I start it and then stick the key in the ignition or how?

I have the Pursuit by Audiovox. Once the truck is started, your factory remote will not work. You either have to use an aftermarket keyless entry system or just do it the old fashoined way by putting the key in the door. Basically, you push the button on your remote and the truck will start. Mine stays running for 5 minutes and then turns off if I don't put the key in. Once you get in, you have to put the key in and turn it to the 'on' position. Then hit the brake pedal and your ready to go. If you hit the brake before putting the key in, the truck will shut off as a safety feature.

Thanks Mark! That clears up a lot. I plan on getting a keyless with remote door lock and a alarm? Anyone have a ballpark guess of what it'll cost?

I've been sold. I need one of these keyless entries and remote starters... anyone have a good brand/model?

How much did itcost to get your alarms and stuff installed? My 2 local stores charge a whopping $250 just for installation. It's crazy.

Bulldog

look on stylinconcepts.com - Bulldog 2 way remote start with keyless entry.

I've read that the viper doesn't have that great of quality so I think the Bulldog brand is what I personally will go with.

I only know this because I want a remote start on my vehicle too.
I just don't know if I can install it myself without crapping everything out?

yeah ummm viper not good? its been proven as one of the best. i have a viper remote start with the factory alarm and im in love. the range is remarkable and its perfect. no problems here and mine with install was 300 but thats because i know the guys at the shop.

consumer review

I know Viper is renowned for being one of the top security systems. What I read was a consumer review for a 2 way Remote Starter. I was on so many sites, I don't remember where I was, but it stated that he had to replace the FOB (clicker) twice in one year. He said that he did not drop it or treat it roughly... just that he had to replace the clicker twice because it kept crapping out on him. His rating was like 5 stars every else but the quality.

Anyone have the Clifford Matrix 2 way remote start?

Is the viper system, the one that talks...?

is so, which model is it????

I want the alarm, but I want to keep the factory keyless entry, is that possible, or does the factory disengage, and you must use the viper keyless entry.....

any alarm can talk, i had my python remote start, keyless entry, alarm installed yesterday and he asked what i wanted it to do.

he said the most effecient mod to an alarm would be more sirens, so i thought id put one in the back, the stock one in the engine bay. The guy installing it had 7 on his !!

he also said i could buy the one that talks.

i also heard that if you get an alarm that disables your keyless entry.

I've got the Clifford RSX 3.5 It has virtually everything. Except talking features. Since it's a 2 way it beeps, chirps and vibrates. It has keyless entry remote start alarm and other programmable options. I could program several things into if i wanted but I'd never use it - I did program to be able to roll the back window down. you can program to have the air turned on or defrost or something - i usually keep mine at one temp so i don't need to program that. i work right by a set of train tracks and the dang alarm goes off every time a train goes by so any heavy rattle sets it off/

I like this system.

the thing you said about it going off around train tracks, the python and viper have this thing called progressive learning where if the alarm goes off due to a shock sensor three times and no doors have been bypassed or hood, then the alarms computer considers it a nuisance, and ignores it if it happens again.

right but you can't reset the alarm - my car is right outside and the alarm goes off and is very loud - since i answer 911 calls the last thing i need is for my alarm to be sounding during someone elses's emergency. although kind of funny when i think about it not very for someone else i guess

i wanted to get remote start in my 94...but with the 5spd...they couldnt do it...liablility...but if u go to BestBuy...the price covers installation...i think it is $380 for the Viper with the pager and LCD screen...with remote start...but i might be wrong...i know BestBuy can sometimes suck...but if u find a good one...and the car ausio guys know what they are talkin about...u can go to them for anything...
