Every time I lock or unlock using the keyless fob it goes loud honk honk instead of beep beep from the buzzer. Whatever the previous owner did, how do I undo it? I want the beep beep back.

Open the hood, look for wires spliced between the keyless buzzer and the horn. I don't recall ever seeing the ability to "program" the horn to chirp?!

I'm sure the previous owner have done some wiring to the horn in addition to the buzzer. I first tried adjusting the volume by following the instruction in the sticky post. Then I realized all I was adjusting was the buzzer instead of horn. What exactly should I look for and what I need to do to just disable the horn part?

Seriously dude, I've got 20/10 vision, but I can't see your truck from here!

Anything that doesn't look like it came from the factory...Pull it out.

Waiting for his next post.

"I pulled wires out that looked like they wern't factory and now my horn wont stop honking!"

I did it. I took the car to the dealer and the service rep was very knowledgeable on what's going on. He said there is an after-market alarm system (maybe called KARR) installed. He put the key in the ignition and kept one door open. Turned the switch on and off three times. Now when I lock and unlock using keyless fob, I only hear beeps from the buzzer. No more honk. Thanks guys!

Like the OP, my used 4Runner honks any time I lock or unlock it. I looked under the hood and didn't see anything out of the ordinary (not that i'm real familiar with 4Runners) except there were what looks like 2 separate horns, and I didn't know if that's normal or not. Is one factory and one aftermarket? The only difference I saw was that one had a 400 on it while the other said 500.

My Runner did this from factory and I wish I could find a detailed wright up on disabling the horn honk. I read people saying how to do it but they are extremely vague. The most I got was "with the key in the ignition and the door open, flip the switch on and off 3 times." ..... right witch switch???
