Keyless Entry - Inconsistent

I have 2 key fobs - both with new batteries and the lock function works most of the time but the unlock only works occasionally.

Where is the receiver located?

And does anyone know what the part number is for the receiver?

dome light working correctly ? Ive had three 3rd gens, 2 of them had key fob issues, both times related to drivers side dome light switch fooling computer into thinking door was either opened or closed.

I'll check.
I usually have the dome light switched off - so I probably wouldn't notice if it was not working properly.

Checked the dome lights and they are working fine.

Both of my remotes work about:
75% of the time to lock the doors
25% of the time to unlock the doors

They see to work best when close to the driver's door.

The contacts inside might be dirty/corroded.

You could split the remotes and clean up the contacts with a pencil eraser.

Then again they might just be worn out.

You probably need to provide some more info.

Does the fob range not reach the box? Is there sometimes no "beep" when you lock/unlock?

If there is a beep, but no lock/unlock, there could be a broken or strained wire, or bad actuators.

When I press the unlock button - 75% of the time I get no beep and the door don't unlock. In the 25% of the time when the doors do unlock I get the beep.

Same with lock - when it does lock it also beeps.

If I'm not mistaken, for you the receiver for the security system is either in the main body ECU or the orange plastic box in the back hatch, I can't remember which.

The receiver/module is in the rear hatch. It's orange if I remember correctly.
