Keyless entry swap?

Tried searching, couldn't find a solid answer.

My 99 parts vehicle has keyless entry that works (1 fob).

My 97 does not have keyless entry (no security light, no fobs).

Can I swap the keyless entry unit and everything needed into the 97 or will it not work?

If so, what is all involved?

thanks!

You would need to swap pretty much ALL of the body wiring from the '99 to the '97 to get it to work. And then re-integrate the engine wiring to the '99 harness. The keyless entry system in the '99+ trucks is completely integrated into the body ECU, rear hatch, etc. with communication between multiple computers in different spots in the truck.

An aftermarket alarm is probably a better/cheaper/easier option.

Thanks for the information. It sounds like way to much screwing around. I wasn't sure if it was a simply plug and play deal.

oh well:doh:
