They now have counterfeited the emergency key from the fobs to open the door and use a device to plug into the diagnostic port to start the vehicle.
 
Without trying to get political, some places have also lowered auto theft to just being a misdemeanor, so it isnt a big issue to the criminals if they get caught.
 
ain't nobody out there coming after my 2012 . drive an old vehicle, no need to worry about theft . no one is gonna pay ocean freight fees to ship a 2012 with 160k miles to the middle east :lmao:

If you know how, teach others others how to do it. However, if you have a keyless car this may cause a lot of problems.

It seems the main problem is the radio range. Older cars had a much shorter range which meant you had to be much closer to the key to detect its signal but in order to add more convenience and features, many car manufacturers expanded the radio range to several hundred feat which allows thieves to simply drive down the street to detect it.

I thought people already knew.
Hold lock button and press unlock twice. Indicator light will blink a few times indicating signal transmission has stopped.
Signal transmission will resume the next time any button is pushed on the fob.

Right on, and it is in the the owners manual as well as discussed here a while back.
 
There's a way to put the keys to sleep but I'm not too sure how to do it though. Thieves search for the signal with scanners in a backpack and transmit them with the same device so the car thinks the key is within the proximity.

It is covered in the owners manual for models that apply. It is really a fob battery saver.. it stops the fob from transmitting so thee battery lasts longer, but a side affect is a thief can no longer pick up a signal as there is none
 
That video is full of misinformation and half truths. Your average cop, insurance adjuster, and service writer at a dealership don't know jack shit about RF, rolling codes, encryption, or how any of these systems work.

All modern systems use rolling codes which make replay attacks much more difficult than portrayed in the video. Not to mention, a key fob transmitting a signal that can be picked up from 300 feet away at all times would drain that little watch battery in about 10 minutes.

If you would like a good intro on how these types of replay attacks actually work and how these systems are vulnerable, this video series is a very good intro and I think explains the basic concepts very well.

Washington State and Oregon. Thieves have rammed police vehicles in a stolen car and Police not allowed to pursue. Has happened locally on multiple occasions.

Homeless camps littered with stripped cars in the open. No police response.

I had to read this a couple of time before I realized you were talk about the signal for the key fob and not the actual vehicle transmission. At first I was like "you can turn off the transmission?".
