Auto Theft Prevention - Testing (Video Inside)

Few weeks ago there was a Toyota Highlander stolen in my neighbourhood right off the driveway. The homeowners kept their key fobs right by the garage man door inside. The thieves were able to trace the key fob signal to their decoy, and that's how they easily got into the Toyota and drove off in less than a minute!

That to me is very scary!

I try not to keep my cars outside, ever, especially for such reasons but even stored inside a garage is still not 100%.

That's when I decided to invest and try out the Faraday box for key fobs. It's a super inexpensive way to add more security I believe, and owning a 4Runner you can never have too much security anymore, sadly.

Here is the video to show you guys how it worked out:

I doubt they traced the key fob signal. So many people leave keys just inside the garage man door. Thieves can also mirror your key fob anyway.

I personally have a full alarm system with remote notification and cameras for security. Someone try's to take my truck they will likely get to meet my 357.

That's exactly how they trace it. They know most people leave their key fobs near the garage or driveway where the cars are parked. That's how a lot are stolen, with such ease. This box prevents them from hacking/tracing the key fobs. It's an added extra measure for security, as alarms and camera's also do their part as well.

You can put Toyota keys in battery-saving mode when you’re home. This turns off the radio broadcast. Thieves won’t be able to relay the signal and steal your car.

Press unlock twice while pressing and holding lock. Confirm that the electronic key indicator flashes 4 times.

Pressing unlock or lock will turn the key on again.

I didn't know this before, thanks for the heads up, I'll try that out as well.
