Keystone, CO Sept 3, 2011

Decided to take advantage of the great Colorado weather this weekend and make a run from Denver to Keystone for some wheelin. The trail was nice, with very few vehicles and occasional mountain bikers until we gained altitude... then we had it all to ourselves. The 4Runner did great as always and we had a great time... here are a few pics of the journey:

Trail started to get interesting right past 10,300 feet. I suspect we stopped just past 12,000 feet.

Some more pics from the day including the kids. Pretty sweet mine at the top we were able to explore. The final act: wash up the 4Runner and quick detail in preparation for a full wax job in the coming days. :thumb3:

I rode those trails out there on my Moots bike back in 98 when I lived in Bolder. The scenery was great. I remember one family who lived out ther had the original deed to their land from when Colorado was made a state. Quite neat. Glad your kids like the outdoors.

The 4runner looks good but don't neglect those LBJs. I see you have done the fog light mod.

I don't know if the Giants will have a good season this year due to injuries and mismanagement (but I will pull for them anyway).

Thanks man. LBJ's are actually on order right now from Toyota of Dallas. New OEM joints, bolts etc. Going to knock them out a few days after I get them and not have to worry again.

Yeah, I am approaching the season with guarded optimism for the Giants. In all honesty I am just happy that football is upon us. Also, good eye picking up on the fog light mod man... I love it... I've used them on the trail and around town like that for a few weeks now. Also did the E-locker mod, but haven't had much chance to enjoy that quite yet.

BTW, round trip yesterday up I-70, on the trail, then back down I-70 to home was 165 miles. 4Runner managed 18.05mpg for the trip. Not bad at all I say!

What? You guys have gorgeous woods there. You can't beat the fall scenery either. Great hunting up there too.

Which trail is that? I didn't think you could take a vehicle up on the ski slopes?

I thought maybe you were doing Saints John Road, just out of Montezuma.

It's actually called "Keystone Gulch". Review here: TrailDamage.com - Keystone Gulch Most of the trail isn't on the actual slopes, but you do cross a few of them on the way up. It's pretty neat to see Keystone that way vs. in the winter on skis or a board. ;-)

Hey man, thanks! Ahhh, I love the lift so far. I've had it now for about 2 months and I am totally used to it and the family is as well. The nice thing about my situation is that the 4Runner is not my Daily Driver, so if there are long trips where I am looking more for "comfort" I drive one of our other cars. Truth be told however that more often than not we take it out... the kids love riding up high etc.

If I were to do it over again at this point, I'd definitely go with the same OME setup. The funny thing is that at first I thought it seems so tall... now, not as much. Sooo glad I went with the coils I did vs. a smaller lift.

BTW, thanks for helping me make my final decision a few months back... your rig Rickashay was my catalyst for the lift choice!
