Kicked back door - dentless or normal repair?

Well my gf kicked the rear hatch to close it, resulting in a nice 6inch dent. I'll try to repair it myself, but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to do it.

Seeing this picture, do you think a paintless repair is possible?

I think a paintless dent repair guy can fix it. My GF closed the door to her Honda with her foot while she had groceries in her hand (more like kicked it to close it) and it caused a similar dent. A paintless dent repair guy left it 99% new. i could see a tiny crease sometimes but better than forking out the deductible to have the panel re skinned.

i would call them and have them come take a look. estimates are free right?
 
Although I've never tried it myself, I've heard from alot of people that if you heat the dent up with a hair dryer and then put ice on it, it may pop the dent out. I've heard body shops use a heat gun and dry ice, but not many people have both of those things handy I'd assume.

Anyhow, it might be worth a try with the dryer and plain ole ice. It looks like it might just pop out.

Ok I just tried that, kinda worked but now I'm left with two small dent, about 1-2 inch each, see this pic :

Should I just stop there and call a paintless repair guy while I'll be in Montreal next week?


I tried to push the little dent but the bottom part of the rear hatch in reinforced with another plate, rendering the dent repair pretty hard for a newbie.

Just noticed you joined in June... is your truck that new too? man... my wife would NOT live that down... my 2 cents is leave the rest up to a pro. especially since you already recognized the increased complexity of the remaining dents.

Yes my truck is that new.... and yes I was really not happy when I saw that... especially since when if I scratch the coffee table it's a drama, but "that little scratch" over the truck, no problem....

Seriously though, lets get back to your girlfriend for a minute. I'd like to see her get on here and explain herself. She isn't your wife yet so might get away with it so show her this thread and ask her to comment.

How did this even happen? It's not like it's a barn door, it comes down from above. Seems like it would be more effort to get a leg up than just your arm.
 
What we should really be doing here is looking at a picture of the girlfriend and deciding if she stays or goes.....:wow:
