KidV's 1985 4Runner

Allright, I can't stand it any longer. I'm dying to know, who tagged my thread "banana cheese" and what the hell does that mean? :lmao:

I don't know honestly. I would do it but I don't want to put my time and money into something that it just going to end up being a piece of hud. I have always been skeptical about replaced and rebuilt motors. I guess you will never really know what a vehicle has been through unless you buy it brand new.

I'm laughing uncontrollably right now. I went to add tags to this thread and apparently I did that. I have no idea when or why.

So, is the 86 still gonna live or is it getting 86'd? ha

Oh, the '86. We were about this --><-- close to sourcing another motor and entering it in the Old School Rock Crawl competition, but some key pieces didn't come together and we're probably not, now. I haz a sad.

Today I yelled "come on" at my truck when I missed a downshift on a hill and had to drop to second to get going again.

So I don't know if it'll stick, but until further notice my truck's name is Eileen. :D

I'd say 100% of the times I've yelled at my runner, lack of power had to do with it. Ever been up parley's in an undergeared 22re? It's fuuuuun

I took a time out and haven't done much with it besides drive it for a couple weeks now. I mounted up my 33s the other day just to see, and took 'em right back off again - they rubbed like mad with the saggy front springs, and the 4.10s in the diffs weren't happy with them AT ALL. 5th gear was useless. So they're back in storage until I get my gears figured out. I want 4.88s but they're not in the budget. I have a pair of 5.29 thirds but one of them is welded and I don't wanna use that on the street, so I may end up playing musical ring and pinion - unless anybody wants to trade?.

I wasn't going to put my good alternator in until I felt like it, but I had a pulley start yelling at me over the past couple of days, and the screwdriver test says it's the alternator, so I guess I feel like it. I shoved the front of the truck back into the garage so I can just wrench cold instead of cold and wet, and got the old alternator out this morning. Hopefully the new one will go in tomorrow without too much wrestling. It's a good excuse to put new belts on anyway.

140 amps, coming up!

I would but it's still a daily driver. Swapping tires every time I wanna wheel is a PITA, and a welded rear and Spartan front on icy roads is doable but not my idea of a good time.

It won't cost me that much to take the 5.29s to my gear guy and get them set up in one of the 4.10 diffs, or if I'm lucky find another set of 5.29s for that and keep the welded 3rd for a trail spare.

So my Saturday just got a little busier... :D

Ok, so how much $$ did you drop on that setup?

$850 or thereabouts. Springs, shocks, fresh ubolts for the front. I already had ubolts for the rear and greasable shackles and bushings all around, and I skipped the anti-inversion kit and steering stabilizer.

How's your truck coming?

Hell YES!

How many square ubolts do you have?

They're all square. I'll probably do a flip kit front and rear eventually, but not yet.

how's the weather? I'm heading home tomorrow morning to grab my tools. maybe this weekend is a good time to grab those hubs n axles from ya?
