Hook up some wires. Finish the exhaust. Probably some other little stuff I've forgotten about. Get a base fuel/timing map programmed close enough that the motor will start and run, and then take however long it takes to drive the truck around and fine tune the map. My goal is 250 HP and 40 MPG. :biggrin1:

I hear you. I've been working 60 hours, and all my remaining free time has been with the family or working on/playing in the other truck. I found myself surfing KSL for FJ60s last night and wondering how much I could get for the Bastard as it sits :shocked:. I have to get this thing back on the road soon or I never will.

My schedule gets better in the new year. Then it's just a matter of motivation.

60 and 62 series are creeping up quick. 6-7K is the norm now.

A landcruiser would be a practical choice. I mean, other than the horrible mileage, it fulfills all your needs. Now that you have multiple boys you're gonna need the extra space and cargo carrying capacity. You're a big dude and before u know it your boys are gonna be big, real big. Picture them trying to crawl into the back seat. I can tell u from experience, it ain't pretty. Going camping, I had roof racks, hitch racks, and the dog in the back... :suspicious: Add to that a tent trailer! I was a rolling testament to Toyota durability! It may be time to pull the trigger on the Bastard. She's served her purpose well but it's time to let big brother(62)take over. Just something your gonna have to assess going forward. All good points. The Bastard has definitely taken a back seat in the DD/family wheeler business - the supercrew F150 has that job now, and is doing it well so far - but I'm not done with the '85 yet. I have no immediate plans to make it a trailer queen, but it's definitely a toy now and future mods don't have to consider it's fitness as a family camper or long range explorer. Linking the rear, huge shocks up through the bed, bobbing the tail, deleting the gas tank in favor of a fuel cell, building a cage, all very much on the menu now (and can I borrow a couple thou? ).

If I did pick up a 60/62 (and I want to very badly, the damned things are just too sexy), it would also be a toy, probably get a mild build on 33s similar to where the Bastard is now, and then the Bastard would turn into a trailer queen. But that's later.

I love your buddy's FJ62. Oh, the bad naughty things I would do to that truck...
