love the idea of a 60/62, that'l definitely be my future build when the family starts growing, but as for now the 4runner is still the perfect size for my wife and I. You'll enjoy yours so much more when you get those added ponies under the hood, don't give up!
I know its just my opinion, but if your going to build a trailer queen, just build a buggy, don't hack up a perfectly beautiful 4runner! Its easier to design a sweet suspension without having to work around an existing body/frame anyway :rant:

1UZ vs. an LS would be a tough call for me. I don't know enough about diesels to know how they stack up in terms of ease of swap and power output vs cost, except to say that the first person to suggest a 4BT is gonna get it in the neck.

You should consider a 4BT.














I know little about diesels but I would go with one. A Toyota one. Maybe an 1HD-FTE…..

$5500 for a front clip??? I can get a whole truck for $10000 or $12000, that's nuts.

theres a place here that imports them from japan and they want 7500 to 10000 just for the front clips

I would assume that import taxes and shipping prices are a lot, but why not just buy one in Canada and drive it here for cheaper and have a whole rig?

I was looking at it this morning actually. The big barrier right now is the colors on my copy of the wiring diagram aren't seeming to match the colors of the wires in my harness , so for most of the sensors I think I'm going to need to figure out which wire is which before I know exactly where to splice them into the Megasquirt pigtail.

Good luck with it, can't wait to here your review once you get some road time in. I need to start seriously working on my 1UZ. I built a start cart and hope to have all the engine wiring worked out before it goes into the truck. I wish I could buy a pre made harness, in retrospect, I should have a bought a running car and went from there.

Nice find. He's running an MS3 and has the dual coil motor, I'm guessing his wiring is going to look very different than my MS1 and distributor. I'm gonna read it anyway, thanks for the link!
