Kill switch for the rear hatch lock actuator

I keep some large items in the rear of my 96 4Runner that I'd rather not have stolen. They're large enough that they will only come out through the rear hatch door.

My plan is to make a hidden kill switch to interrupt power to the rear door so that any would-be thieves will not be able to unlock it using the front door controls.

Can anyone guide me on which wire I'm looking for? Do I need to interrupt the positive or negative for this circuit?

Almost everything on a 3rd Gen is Negative Ground Switched. Honestly just put your switch on the negative side.

Here’s some expert advice. Lock your doors and take your keys out. Your key already works as a kill switch for the ignition and fuel pump. If you continue down this hair-brained path you’re going to end up with a lot more problems.

The OP had a legit question so I'm compelled to correct the spelling in your rather unhelpful answer: you meant 'Hare-brained' as in rabbit, so Happy Easter.
