Killing a Toyota

I saw that when it aired, about 10 years ago.

It still bothers me to see a Hilux abused like that. I'd rather see it fixed up, instead of destroyed.

You know

I've been a fan of top gear for some time and every episode where the have some adventure to do that takes a vehicle that is dependable they use toyota. Even in the US guys had one follow them around in Alaska. Watch the north pole episode. It's my favorite. On www.streetfire.com you can watch episode for free.

Oh i've seen them all. haha. I too love the north pole episode. that toilet seat on the back of the hilux

the Alaska episode was killer.... even more so because when ever things were getting grim that blinged out yota on stupidly large wheels would sneak out of the bushes with some creeeeepy music playing in the back ground and rev up its motor.... riding in the yota was the ride of shame hahahahah

I remember watching those episodes and being thoroughly impressed. So much so that I went right out and bought one!

+1. Every once in awhile I'll come across someone who has just discovered the show and can't wait to tell me about it though. Always makes me LOL.

Thats why I dont like the US version. If I had been on it I would have been eager to destroy my vehicle so that I COULD ride in the toyota. Its the better truck. Car guys should know that.

X2, over-the-top patriotism has no place in a real car-guy show IMO. It's about the vehicle, not where it was made.

You guys are missing the point of that Alaska Episode. They were trying to find out which American Made Truck was the best off-roader, they admitted that the Toyota was dependable and hence was the back-up truck.

The reason it was the "Ride of Shame" and the creepy music was because they would have had to go with the "reliable and proven" vehicle because their pile of crap didn't make it (Like many of their American Vehicle episodes end up LoL)

I actually was laughing hard at that episode because I knew a couple of those trucks were barely gonna make it and the Toyota popping in and out every now and then was like the Grim Reaper saying, "hi... I'm waiting for you. :)"

awesome video, saw it a few years back.

although its impressive that the toyota was able to withstand all that abuse, I doubt the newer toyotas would be able to do the same, way too many electronics now, I doubt 4th or 5th gens, or even 3rd gen t4rs for that matter could survive the drowning test

My wife finds cars and car shows boring, but Top Gear UK is one of her favorite shows.

Her favorite is the Reliant Robin episode.

I guess I'd have to watch it again, but I don't remember it being about "American made trucks", I thought it was just an episode about trucks.

That was the episode where they took like a Ford Bronco, a Dodge Truck, and a International Scout to Alaska no? Or am I mixing the cars up again?
