Well, I finally installed my lift! It took my dad and I nearly all day to get the rig all set up, so this evening i took the runner to Firestone where i had made an appointment to get the alignment done. It was the beginning of a very very bad evening. From the start, it drove great to the street, i noticed the steering wheel felt every bump in the road, but hey thats the life of a 4x4. On the highway though, at 55mph i started feeling a vibration through the steering wheel, not a shudder or wobble, a constant vibration. I got to Firestone and explained what I wanted them to do, (oil changed, vehicle check, alignment, tires rotated/balanced) the works. They kinda sneered at me and went to work, 10 mins later they call me in and tell me I need a new steering rack and that the old one has been leaking. I told them i'd never seen any liquid on the floor, but they insisted it had been leaking, and that soon I wouldn't have power steering. So all my excitement went down the crapper with that bad news. Next they told me the alignment was so bad that they couldn't do anything to correct it, the 4runner they said doesn't have a lot of adjustment, and what they could adjust would never be right with the lift installed. It was not the news someone excited about their new lift wanted to hear. I'm supposed to be driving this tuck to Colorado for the summer in a few days!!!!!!!! I had no idea that my installation of this lift would so negatively affect the alignment. They even told me they thought the back axle was bent, cause that certain alignment adjustment isn't even available on the 4runner. So before I left they showed me a lovely deep gash in my tire...... I am so bummed out, i guess out comes the lift. Here are some picts of my install though, let me know what you think, and if there is anything that can be done to save it. The greenish thing on the coil spacers is a piece of masking tape if you're wondering. peace!
