Kinda want a new truck :(

so its sad to say but I'm kinda getting tired of my 4runner, ready for a new start, I like it and all...but i don't love it, I've always wanted a diesel, and this has done me good till now but the gas mileage sucks, i don't go wheeling much and majority of the wheeling around here could be done in a 4x4 truck, the power sucks as well, i just started a new job and if it goes as planned over the next year i should be able to sell my runner and car and throw a few more g's down and get a nice diesel, if I don't get a truck, my 4runner with defiantly need an extreme home make over with SC, new tires and rims, hood scoop and rear bumper, idk what to do

I've owned it since oct. 2010, and my bf is ready to leave me! or least ready to share me with someone else, i know it didn't used to be my daily driver but now it is since my car is back in cali, and the Horrible MPG and lack of power is old and its just not as fun, maybe it would do better as my second vehicle....i am supposed to be getting a company car in the next 6-8 months, maybe that would make me more happy when i don't drive it as often!

t4r thats what i was thinking getting a old power stroke for like $5-6G doesn't get better gas mileage but will still have some power that I'm lacking now, and could tow my runner up to the trails!

Well, if you can find a nice one, I would definitely get a diesel. I just sold my 04 cummins a few months ago and miss it dearly. I miss the power, the mileage, and the size. Once you feel the power of a diesel, no truck will feel the same. I was running 37's and I was getting 22mpg freeway. If you have the money, just do it. You will not regret it at all. I'm feeling the same way lately. I get bored really easily and am running out of things that I want to do to mine.....doesn't help though that mine's a 2wd so I don't see any point in going w/ bumpers, armor, etc bc it will still be severely limited. Plus there's a lot of times when I sure would like to have a truck bed, especially in 2 months when hunting season kicks in. I'm thinking a new body style Tacoma double cab short bed will be my next project. I love my truck and get lots of compliments, but I keep finding myself looking for something new.

Randy know what you mean, I've got 4wd drive though, but for it to be fully what i want ill need to drop another 6G into it with SC, F+R lockers, New rims and tires, and i just don't see it being worth it, i would rather have a decently nice diesel! Tacoma would be nice but I'm want a big step up in power, not going to find that unless i get an ECO-Boost or diesel

Can't you find a good on gas beater car as your DD till you get a company vehicle?, take the insurance out of the 4runner and that should solve your dilemma. You have a real nice truck....just to let ya know.

Sometimes we can never fully appreciate the things we have till they're gone. Just me!

Thanks. It was 480hp at the wheels and 1100 something torque. I would get one for sure and keep the for runner for trails and stuff. That way, the power and other aspects of daily driving won't be such a let down. You can also drive it hard on the trails and not have to worry about getting home! I am waiting until I pick up another diesel before I lift my runner. I am concerned about power loss with 285's

blcktpgsr- dang only if i had half the mods you have i would keep her, thanks for the compliments, but would trade you rigs any day lol this might sound bad but i don't even have to pay for my gas anymore i have a company card i can throw 100% of my fuel on, its just the combination of everything, i get bored easily, and kinda want an upgrade hope that doesn't sound bad

Yeah my wife keeps complaining when I'm wanting to buy stuff for the runner bc she knows I'm wanting a truck in the near-ish future. I would want F+R bumpers, body lift w/ bigger tires and wheels, rear locker and gears, projector retrofit, bajarack, and the list goes on. I just can't justify it haha.
Yeah, I originally wanted to go w/ the Tundra, but it may be more truck than I need (haven't ruled it out yet though haha). If I do go w/ a Taco, I'm gonna try to find one with a supercharger or just add one. Decisions decisions

randy when i was looking before i bought my runner i found tacoma's all done up SC and all with low miles and my pop's was like no don't get one that is already SC and i think i should of because it doesn't raise value that much and you can get a killer deal on one that is already SC that runs and looks great, and i would probably be happy with a SC'd runner/tacoma

start hitting some of the hard trails then you will appreciate how good this truck is built

i guess the 4runner wasn't ur destiny. but i respect the choice. the 4runner was in the family for almost 10 years and i remember i use to hate it..it grew on me until now i'm like in love with it.

I was so confused when i was reading this LOL!

if your sick of your rig, go get something you really want, keep your 4runner for the snow days! I think a 4runner will kill any powerstroke in the snow or am i wrong?
