Question on your 4runner 5th gen king set ups. What’s the difference between the stage 1 and 2? Included UCAs? And different coil around the front coil overs? What would you suggest? I have non kdss. I will primary be highway and Boston city roads and will go off rod on trails with no Baja or rock crawling in the near future. Tried to PM but I may have screwed that up.

Our Fulfillment Team created 2 bundles to help make the ordering process a little easier.

Stage 1 Kit is your normal Coilovers and Rear Shocks.
Stage 1A Kit is you normal Coilovers w/Adjusters and Rear Shocks w/Adjusters

Since these are typically build to order, Upgrading to Extending Travel and/or Upgrading Coil
from 550 to 600, 650 or 700lb is at No Extra Cost.

Upgrading the front coil to 600 or 650lb are both great options for 5th Gen at stock weight.

There are so many great options for UCA's and Rear Coils that we currently deactivated the
Stage 2 and Stage 3 Kits.

We are working on updating the Stage 2 Kit to better fit the most popular build right now;

Part #25001-278 (Extended Travel, w/650 Upgrade)
Part #25001-279 (Extended Travel)
Part #96504 (Total Chaos UCA's)
Part #52700 (ICON 2" Rear Coil)

This is a great build and option you will be happy with as well.

Remember to use Promo Code "T4R" for added savings on most brands.

I tried to search for this information on the forum, but:

Is a long travel LCA not required for extended travel shocks?

And, if not (as seems to be the case), what would be the benefit of running the extended travel shocks over the normal ones from Stage 1?

Total Chaos and Dirt King both make some really nice Long Travel Kits for the 4Runner.

In both cases, Custom Length KING Shocks are available to provide maximum travel.

Extended Travel allows for more down travel, which translates into increased performance and ride comfort on and offroad.

Extended Travel does require Aftermarket Upper Control Arms (UCA's)

Aftermarket UCAs allow you to get your alignment back into spec. With factory UCAs you won't be able to get the caster back in spec. It won't hurt anything, just won't handle as well as it could.

Pardon my ignorance. What is the advantage of extended travel? Is this the same as long travel?

Do you guys have any 4th gen king kits in stock? I sent you a PM yesterday about my suspension upgrade and I look forward to working through you.

For everyone on this thread, I am running stock weight and do not carry anything extra on a regular basis. as I understand from forums that I have read through until my eyes are bleeding, a 600lb coil up front would suffice for stock weight?
my big question is the rear, how to I get a 1-2" lift without getting the rear rake?
Thanks for any help or advice.

current set up: 5100's set at 1.75"
TRD pro wheels

KING Shocks are typically made to order due to the different combinations that people want.

Here is the 4th Gen KING build as is;

Part #25001-124 (Standard Travel, 550lb Coil) - In Stock
Part #25001-125 - In Stock

Typically, 4Runner enthusiasts are looking for Extended Travel, with a coil upgrade.

These are built to order. You can add to notes "EXT Front", "EXT Rear", or both "EXT Front and Rear"

You can also choose a coil upgrade from "600lb Upgrade", "650lb Upgrade" or "700lb Upgrade"

The KING Coilovers will get you about 2.5" of lift out of the box.

Looking to keep you 4Runner at stock weight in the rear...

Sway-A-Way makes a nice 1.5" Rear Coil, Part #102-1650-195
Radflo makes a 2" rear coil, Part #C1500-500-220

Really interested in the stage 1A kit with adjusters and 650lb springs. I would like to stay as close to stock ride height. Little worried about the winter weather (IN) and durability.

KING Coilovers with Adjusters is a great option and very popular choice.

KING Coilovers will come out of the box at 2.5" of lift.

KING Plating, anodizing and other coatings used are warranted to be free
from defects at time of sale only. They may degrade over time depending
on environmental conditions beyond the control of King Shocks.

Can someone please explain the difference between Stage1 and Stage1A please? I know that Stage1A has adjusters but whats that adjuster for? I'm guessing its for softer/harder ride but want a definite answer. Sorry new to lifting trucks. Also cant make up my mind if I want to go with Fox or Kings.

Yes they are compression adjusters.

I've been researching both Kings and Fox non-stop for months now trying to decide. After calling both companies twice I'm confidently deciding on Kings. Fox customer service is less then stellar. Was on the phone with King today and after the guy answered my questions we BSed about 4Runner for about 30 minutes. He even called me back about 20 minutes later because he thought of something else thought I'd like to know.

I like the idea of the Fox dual adjusters but after speaking to several people the Kings have a wider adjustment range.

Thank you Bayou_Pro for sharing.

KING has always been really responsive and helpful.

This is why we love to promote this brand.

If we can help in any way to answer questions alex_bg or
assist with your build, please let us know.
