Your 4runner is an 02? No vacuum stuff for you. Get manual hubs and a manual TCase and there is no electrical stuff.

Seems like there should be plenty of manual hub Tacoma's out there. Look on car-part dot com.

Okay I'll start looking at parts. Im trying to figure out what I need. And I'll probably need to regear both diffs at the same time to 4.88's to be able to make sure the gear ratios are the same

That list looks pretty complete, but add to it, the heavy rubber boot, and the shifter surround.
Also make a habit out of asking Junk yards and seller's for all the bolts, clips, brackets, hoses etc. Having those things are worth their weight in gold when it comes to putting everything together.

Went back home to houston for the second time this semester. My dad came home after 3 months of being away in Saudi Arabia at his new job so I wanted to see him and my family. I also had to study for my 2nd thermodynamics exam but I managed to mount my light bar into my savage offroad front bumper as a study break and take a few pics of my dads truck and mine. I have bigger tires lol.

Also never trust ebay wheel spacers, even the hubcentric ones. The ones I recently had installed I thought were fine but nope. When I went to rotate the tires around, I found that the studs on the spacers got stripped... So I ordered Spidertrax wheels pacers for the front, took ebay ones off, got my tires rebalanced, and my center caps installed. Now I'm good to go. I'm only running spacers in the front now because I don't need them in the rear. Eventually I may get spacers for the rear too, but for now its fine. Kind of gives it a pre-runner look too.

Not sure if you can tell the width difference here, but its noticeable in person
There are a number of things I need to address on the runner, like making the bumper light bar work lol. But I'm going to look at them during thanksgiving break. Hopefully I can just knock it all out in a long days of work. Also I work at the Atkinson Toyota Dealership in Bryan and the owner showed up today in this

Another small update before thanksgiving break. I recently renewed my registration for this year and I got a new set of plates. I'm loving the cleaner look with the white and black. I got out of my mechanical measurements exam today and had some time to kill so I mounted my new fog lights. I'm waiting till thanksgiving break to finish a whole bunch of things and rewiring all of my accessory lights is one of them. But here are some pics of the new goods.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Back home for a few days because of thanksgiving break so I was able to knock out a few things. I got my 2" body lift on after having it in a box for like 6 months, and I was also able to rewire my accessory lights to get everything working as it should. Driving home was a struggle because of all the tires I had to take home. I scored 4 free 305/55r20 KO's for my dads truck and threw them on the roof rack. Then i had my old 31's in the back on a hitch cargo carrier. I averaged 9.9MPG lol.

So I guess I'm due for a few updates on the truck. School got hectic and there was a lot of things going on, finally I can post about what has happened to the truck since the last post.
Test flexed the suspension and I found that my driveshaft makes contact with the gas tank skid
During december I had put on some christmas lights on the truck to be in the "Christmas Spirit" and because i thought they looked dope
Right after finals were over was my 21st bday so my girlfriend decided to surprise me by decorating my car.
One of the first things i did at home was tackle a water leakage issue. I used silicone RTV to seal up the trunk wire harness gasket where it was leaking previously and its held up pretty well. I also had some time to completely gut the interior and sound deaden everything. Driving the truck with a gutted interior was so fun. It felt so fast and peppy. The end result was a big difference. Less road noise, less vibrations, rattles, everything. Pretty quiet during city driving, and definitely quieter on the highway.
Biggest milestone was when my truck actually left me stranded for the first time ever. Went to my girlfriends house a few weeks back and when I tried to start the truck, nothing. Just a single click. I immediately knew that my starter had bit the dust, so I had to get towed from the Woodlands (Spring/Tomball, TX) all the way back to the other side of Houston where I live in Clear Lake. After I got home I quickly got to work and managed to swap out the old starter with a new one in about 3hrs, including 2 trips to autozone. It wasn't that bad of a job at all, especially with it being my first time replacing a starter ever. I'm also sure my body lift helped a lot with creating more room to remove the starter.

After all this time of having my retrofit, I finally got the high beams working. I took the lights apart and messed with the connector that plugs into the shield solenoid. I made a better connection with both headlights and tested the shields with a 9V battery. Finally they work, and they are back on the truck 
Today I was able to change the oil on her. I went with a Bosch filter this time. I made sure to get the larger size that fits on our trucks, I believe it was a 3422 model. Mobile-1 Synthetic good stuff went into the truck. The royal purple oil filter that was on their previously seemed to do a great job filtering out particulates. The oil filter was actually quite heavy when I removed it, indicating it was able to filter out a lot of material.
After the oil change I decided to change the alternator for a new/remanufactured one since the bearings on it were bad. It made the absolute loudest and most annoying high pitched/grinding noise possible. It was just awful and I didn’t want the alternator to fail completely and leave me on the road, so a duralast one fit the bill for a replacement.
You know your truck is tall when you need to stand on a chair to reach into the engine bay

No more funky noises coming from the engine bay. Just smooth 5VZ-FE purr. I still have a decent amount of items to address while I am on break. I ordered new corner lights and a new headlight filler piece to replace the missing passenger side one. I should have updates soon about addressing the other items.

Yea that wasn't the best time. I'm glad it was only the starter as well.
The body lift was very helpful for changing the starter, I don't know how people do it without it.

Few updates are due since its been almost 2 months since I've posted anything.
I'm back at school now for my Spring semester of my junior year. Winter break was good, I was able to get a lot done on the truck, but some things are still left of course. I was able to repaint my sport hood with flat black enamel paint, and repaint my hood scoop. But I think I messed up color matching the hood scoop, so if I cant wetsand and polish it to look good, I'll paint it flat black to match the hood. Also I put in brighter amber LEDs in the corner lights. I also ordered new clear ones to replace my broken JDM black ones. I plan on painting them amber to match the turn signals when I get the chance this spring break.

I'm very satisfied with how smooth the paint came out. No tiger stripes or anything. Here are pics of the new bulbs. Also speaking of LEDS, I replaced the broken/dim LEDS in my dash cluster. I don't have any pics of that but they look really bright now and there aren't any hotspots.
Went up to a buddys cabin in conroe before heading up to start school. Great place, and I snapped a few pics. Pretty nature like in my opinion.

Heard an odd tapping sound as I was driving around, finally stopped to check it out and saw this.
Well, the toyos were pretty worn and very dry rotted. Also, I guess I forgot to announce that I'll be interning for Toyota again this summer, but this time at TMMTX. The production plant where the Tacomas and tundras are produced. Since I was going to be driving across texas, I needed to make sure I had good tires. I spoke with my dad about the issue and with his help, I was able to get some new rubber. 315/70r17 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs Load D range
I got the tires from Sams Club, and they at first told me that my truck was too tall, and they didn't have the equipment to install them. They cleared out some room in the other bay where there was an actual lift and they were able to get them mounted and balanced. I took some pics on this trail behind the sams club and I put them to work already
Put another Texas A&M Engineering decal on the rear window for like the 5th time since it keeps being torn up from retracting the rear window.
I also got my tax refund, so you know what that means. I didn't find any information on the forum about these, but I'm going to give them a shot to see what happens.
