Knock Sensor and Throttle Position wiring in '89 3.0V6

Hi
I have an '89 with the 3.0 and automatic. Running okay...body in very nice shape. Will not pass CA smog due to Check engine light flashing. I just bought it for a couple hundred dollars and need to get started bringer her up to par.
I am receiving code 51 (TPS) and 52 (Knock Sensor Wiring) code.
What I know:
1) Connector from wiring harness to Knock sensor pigtail is damaged. The two leads have been inserted into the pigtail connector and taped. Obviously the connector needs to be replaced on the harness end. Best solutions?
2) The throttle position sensor and wiring appears to be fine.
These both appear to be fairly common problems. I am hoping to draw upon experienced voices here to save me a bit of time.

Heres a good write up for the knock sensor pigtail. Wise to change the knock sensor too while your in there. If the plugs damaged, try to get replacements through a junkyard, add your own plugs, or just hard wire it. 3.0 Intake Manifold Removal & Knock Sensor Replacement - YotaTech Forums

As for the TPS, download the factory service manual (its a sticky at the top of the classic section) It tells you how to test it and determine if it needs to be replaced.

Thanks for the useful information. I have downloaded the manual. This is what I have done. I am doing as much testing as possible before I go in for the knock sensor replacement. It is just so much work.
I tested the throttle position sensor and it tests within parameters. I have tested continuity of the knock sensor wiring and it test fine. I am still getting code 51, and 52. I am writing to ask how likely the ECM could be bad? Seems at least a question worth asking. I have the 10-18-24 pin arrangement Toyota #89661-35280. Is there a way to test it other than somewhere find a known good one. Thanks very much for any answers that come my way. Tom

If you decide to change the knock sensor, I've bot a 3.0 factory toyota sensor I'll sell you for a lot less than you can get new. Just pm me if you ever decide to go that route.
