Knock Sensor CEL

Hey everyone,

I recently had my heads replaced due to blown head gasket, and I got a CEL for knock sensors(both). First off, is there anything I can look at before tearing into the engine to check them out? or is this the only solution?

Its probably the knock sensor harness. The wires are constantly subjected to heat and will get brittle over time. If you were just in there, i bet one of them broke from moving the wires around.

The sensor harness is about $30 from toyota which isn't bad but the lower intake gaskets are about $50 each and both need to be replaced when you pull the lower intake manifold.

Mine just threw the same CEL so i'm about to yank it all apart.

Hey Steeve,

I just replaced both knock sensors with after market ones and the sensor wire and replace intake gaskets and now im still getting both knock sensor codes coming up on both banks. COuld you maybe share with me if you got yours fix and what the actual problem is? is it really the knock sensors or is it totally something else wrong?
