Installing 84 22re out of a celica into my 85' This weekend. Has been pretty easy process besides finding out timing guides and crank gear was broken, how it was still running, I do not know. heck I drove it across town. Any way, timing chain kit is installed, motor mounts moved and wire harness is swaped over. Found out this block is a shade taller than the 85 and later blocks (after I purchased the first timing kit), everything else has bolted right up. The only thing Im curious about it the knock sensor and oil pressure sending unit locations. There is only a plug in the hole directly below the oil filter, normally this is where the oil pressure would hook up.Right? Directly to the left of the oil filter is a round unit that resembles a knock sensor. Could this be the oil pressure unit? Did that year block even have a knock sensor? Advise... would like to get these in before the install this weekend.
