Hey everyone,

Thought I'd post up some pics of my build. More of a keep sake for myself if I'm honest but hopefully someone else enjoys then too.

Here is how I bought it:

So I picked up a parts car

Where the parts car sits now pretty much..

I've replaced the oil filter, oil, coolant, radiator hoses, thermostat, and water pump.

Cleaned up the inlets and outlets. Gave the radiator a paint. Doesnt look like i took a photo of it all back in.

The brown green is the "coolant" that came out. I dont think the thermostat had ever been replaced.

Started working underneath to clean up the decades of dirt and surface rust.

Nice. I am jealous of your workshop, looks like youve got plenty of space. What are you using to re-coat the undercarriage components? I think I see a can of it there in the skidplate photo. The way it dries kind of reminds me of POR-15 but thinner.

Currently have 2 4rs and an mr2. Eyeing off an RA40 to add.

This is the paint I used:

Dupli-Color High Heat Aerosol Paint Black 340g | Supercheap Auto

Was going to get chassis paint but I've got about 4 cans of this on the shelf and its pretty hardy.

A few photos of the new bits and pieces on the engine and then a photo of the chassis after a looooot of scrubbing.

Surface rust isn't anywhere near as bad I thought which is great, but will still do some wire wheeling and painting.

Also if anyone knows how to fix my typo in the thread title thatd be amazing haha

I remember seeing this one up for sale when I was looking for my 1st gen. Bit rough but looks like you're going to tidy it up pretty quick. That coolant is nasty!

Nice! I managed to get it for the right price and then got lucky with scrounging a donar with 90% of what I need locally as well.

Did you find one?

Fuel tank back in, so one section done.

Yeah I found one eventually, I picked up an '85 Surf in reasonable condition. Was the donor car from Murrindindi way? Fuel tank came up good, how's the rest of it going?

I've been slowly pushing on.

Found some decent rust under the windscreen, which is a pain.

Starting at the bottom working my way up though (before and after photos of the work ive done so far).

Front end is looking very tidy! Shame about the rust, I'm worried mine will have the same. You planning on fixing yourself or getting done professionally?
