Kotrin's 4Runner Build & Adventure Thread

First of all I've never done a build thread or an adventure thread. After reading, lurking and just observing I've decided to give it my best go around. Lots of the modification's I've done are gladly observed(borrowed) from others. I don't always get a chance to take pictures of my modifications but would be more than willing to explain what I did to accomplish them. If they don't make sense, criticize away, sometimes my thought process doesn't always make sense to myself =D

Little bit about myself..
..I've been a Sand Dune fanatic for all my life. I was riding quads when I was barely able to walk according to my Dad and friends. I've been through my share of accidents which lead partly to my current situation. I'm 240lbs, trying to lose weight. I used to weight 300lbs, just hard to when your limited and not a lot of support as most think i'm 'fine'. I've had 2 back surgeries going on a 3rd that I'm trying to avoid. I no longer play with my quads or dirt bikes and have now use my 4Runner to hit the sand. My back problems are partly due to my 'stupidity' on the quad along with Degenerative Disc Disorder, Facet Disease to just name a few.. Enough about that, back to the stuff we all wanna see/hear!

I bought a 1997 4Runner back in 2010. I did the e-locker, gear, all the work on her before I had to sell her. I'm unable to shift repeatedly as it causes my disc's to flare up and pushed me to get rid of her. Picture of her right completed before I sold it.

I couldn't shift anymore and had to get rid of it for my 2013 Toyota Tacoma..

My son and I walked away from this accident. Screw Subaru Commercials!!

To heal and move on my son and I purchased our current vehicle a 2014 Toyota 4Runner TEP. Could NOT be happier.

This is right before Tires and Toytec Spacer Lift. I had a problem replacing it with what I wanted due to it being so new. I'm sure before 3 years is up i'll have my Icon 'X' setup..

Congrats on the TEP, it looks great. What the heck happened in that accident? Glad to see you and the little guy walked away from that.

Going up to speed to merge with traffic. A car ahead of me was forced to slow down due to another person not merging at the 'speed' of traffic. This car was out of my line of vision being in front of the other vehicle and caused them to decrease speed. All this happening incredible fast, needless to say..Flipped 4 times doing 60..But we walked away.

what wheels are those? seems like a lot of people run those here.

Yeah the ones I really wanted I was informed that they aren't even released, just building hype for them. They are Fuel Boost D534. I wanted the Fuel Assault, but looking at them now they changed from original ones..

I do know that I was able to get the Boost with no need for the spacers.

Welcome

K,
Welcome to the forum form a fellow PNW-er (Tigard). Hope to see you around, maybe the NWOL rally or Brown's Camp:bravo:

I normally go out least once a month. Going to Sand Lake either the 14th, or the 23rd to get my son ready for Dunefest. Bought him a 90cc quad for Christmas.

Possible night/day run again coming up in a few weeks. I would love to get with some other 4Runner owners to see what you did and bounce idea's =)

So I've searched and read and see a lot of people use the spider Tra spacers. After actually using my rig on the night run I rubbed when I flexed and was turning hard. I already have a decent offset on my wheels, but annoyed at the rub. Anyone use the spacers and turn full one way and max flex it?

I know my offset compared to others will change but curious. May just pick up a pair to try. .

Thanks for sharing your back story. Glad you and your son walked away from, what looked like, a deadly accident!
Looking forward to seeing more build!

Supposedly my GOBI is in transit. Super excited but at the same time just sighing. I go in for nerve (numbing) this Friday to figure out what else I can do about my back. Going to try to install the rack this weekend along with my light bar.

Side Picture of the GOBI Installed, possible light bar installation tomorrow...
