Kowitz's 1999 Build Thread

Just a quick driveway shot of my Subaru and my 4Runner together, before the Subaru sells.

And some pictures of my red LED panels in the dome/cargo lights. I need to fix the rear hatch door open switch, the "door" function isn't working, so I took the pictures with the cargo switch set to "on". I also have two white LED panels, in case I get tired of the red, but for now, I love it!

Nice rig. But also... Clean RS! Engine swap at all?

Yeah, it has a USDM ej205 wrx swap, 16g turbo, 1000cc injectors, tial EWG...etc. That car is my baby and I have owned it for about 9 years, but unfortunately, I can't keep both, and at this point in my life, it makes more sense to sell the RS.

Oh man! Yeah I don't know how you part with that! That's definitely clean man. I had a bugeye and traded it in for my 06 legacy I have now. Miss my 02 though! gotta do what you gotta do. If I had the extra cash I would take it off your hands!

Well, something that I had planned to do way down the road, may be happening sooner than expected.

Earlier today, my neighbor back into my front bumper while I was parked in the street. So, after I get the price estimate, I'll likely just use the money he gives me, towards a 4xinnovations front bumper. I just need to decide if I want the grill hoop or not, I'm leaning towards not.

Here are some quick pictures of the damage:

Bent my brand new USMC license plate as well :( At least that is an easy fix.

So, while I was a little upset at 1st, after I calmed down, I realized, that this could be a blessing in disguise! I'll keep you posted!

Well, I'll likely be ordering a front bumper from 4xinnovations next week!

Just need some opinions!

Should I order it built for a 1" body lift? I don't have one yet, but I could buy one and do it at the same time. If I don't order it for a body lift, how hard would it be to modify the bumper later to fix the gap, if I do end up doing a body lift.

And I just need to decide if I want the grill guard or not, I'm leaning towards no, I like the simple look a lot without it, but every now and then, I see a grill guard I really like.. decisions decisions!

4xInnovations front plate bumper ordered :D

I ordered it built for a 1" body lift. Now I just need to order a 1" body lift. I can't wait to see my truck with this stuff on it!

If you don't mind me asking how much are you selling or did you send up selling the RS for...? I've been thinking about buying another fast/track car and those I near the top of my list for good bang for the buck.

It's currently for sale for $12,500 obo.

Well, my 4xInnovations bumper has shipped! Should be here on Thursday!!

I'm going to send it out for powdercoating when it gets here though. I had it built for a 1" body lift, so I need to order a BL and install it also.

Can't wait

Here it is! Now I just need to send it out for powdercoat, and buy/install a 1" body lift, I'm pretty excited, the bumper looks amazing.

Hey everyone! Been quite a while since I've posted on here. Life got in the way, buying my 1st house, 1st kid on the way, new big boy job!

Anyway, finally got around to ordering my 1" body lift from FatPat. And a few months ago, I got my 4xInnovation front bumper ordered and then powder coated.

I finally got around to getting the lift and bumper installed today. But ran out of day light to get it washed for some pictures. Sorry for the teaser! I'll get pictures up tomorrow

Pictures as promised.(just some quick ones before the sun went down after work) Im really loving how it looks. I need to get some round fog lights still. And Id really like to get some new wheels.

No lift other than a 1" body lift.

My truck is the 1999 "highlander" so it has the taller springs from the factory.(if I remember correctly)

Oh i see yeah they got the taller springs well lucky you ah! What sold you on the front bumper? It looks nice. How hard was to install it? I need front and rear bumper and i can decide on which one to go with i love the cbi but is $$$

I really liked the style of the bumper. Simple, clean lines and no hoop! And the price was pretty much paid for by my neighbor, after he accidentally backed into me with my stock bumper on!

Install was really straight forward on the bumper, but I had the added step of a 1"body lift too, because I had the bumper built for a body lift. But all in all, just an afternoons worth of work. Not bad.

Hey everyone, I got a misfire on cylinder 3 and 6 this morning. I was going to do plugs and wires, but after a little research, those two cylinders share a coilpack. Seems more likely that that one pack went bad.

What do the experts say? Thanks!

I recently had a coilpack go bad and cause a miss fire. I started by replacing plugs and wires and it got better but not gone. So I replaced 2 packs (I had replaced 1 previously) at $75 each it was a no brainer and my miss has not returned.
