Last October I realized my childhood fantasy (not kidding) and acquired a 3rd Gen - for years I thought 3rd Gens were pretty much the most handsome SUV around, with a perfect mix of leanness and athleticisim (personification folks), and while I love my 1986 P-car on the open road, when baby number 1 came, along came the realization that a 4Runner would really fit the bill when it comes to mobility, space, and reliability at the right price.
After checking out a few, beat to hell examples with questionable maintenance, asking for crazy money, I lucked out and found a sweet, single owner, 1998 Limited 4wd, no locker, some obvious repaired passenger door damage, and an extra 4wd badge (8wd - sweet), but an immaculate interior, no rust, and dealership maintenance records going back 15 years. At 5500 bucks, and 130k miles, it was a no-brainer.
