L.E.D. - Key Fob Coincidence?

Well I ordered L.E.D's for my truck inside and out.. (Puddle lights, map's, dome's, LP, and vanity) Love 'em! BUT, since they've been installed my key fob has intermitantly worked while locking and unlocking my vehicle.

Do I need to reset something, Disconnect the battery, or Is this just a coincidence?

Obvisouly the manual didnt cover changing bulds to a non-factory option, but it also didnt say much about changing them that was helpful in the first place. I wouldnt think these systems are directly connected, but what the hell do I know? Just wondering if anyone else has had issues after LED install?

:thanks:

Not a problem for me. I never disconnected my battery either. Perhaps you should check the battery in your FOB? Even though it is new, sometimes batteries are just bunk.

It probably is a coincidence but _some_ LED lights have electronics in them. The electronics _may_ interfere with the fob. If you have no trouble unlocking the system with none of the LED lights on, but have trouble locking with any of the LED lights on, then the circuitry in the LED lights is probably causing the problem. Otherwise I'd grab my other key fob and see if it has the same problems.

No problems for me

I have installed LEDs throughout most of the truck interior and exterior (brake lights and backup lights) and I have not had any problems with my FOB.

If this was happening to me, here is what I'd do:

#1: check/change battery in FOB

#2: (time consuming): re-install factory bulbs, then install LED 1-by-1 and check to see if FOB still works consistently.

Good luck!

The LEDs likely have a component which steps the voltage up or down from the standard 12v and could be causing radio interference with your fob. Is there a fuse you can pull to disable them or some of them (I would suspect the internal lights first) so you can rule this out?

Your not crazy, It is happening to me with my Armada. I bought 5 3175_4HP_W_5K and 9 pairs of 194_4_RB_W_5K for both my 04 4Runner limited and my 05 Armada LE. The 4Runner's FOB is working just fine. The Armada not so. Here is how I tested. If I use the On-Door-Off switch in the OFF setting then the keyfob is normal. If on Door or On then once the lights are on the keyfob is erratic. Like when you want to unlock all four doors or when you want to lock. If I wait for the lights to turn off and then try to lock it work. If the lights are on then the keyfob does not work well.

Could it be the type of LEDs?

SOLVED - In my Armada I replaced the 3175_4HP_W_5k with 3175_2HP_W_5k (maplights) and 194_R_RB_W_5K with the 194_5_SMT_W_5k (2nd & 3rd row spotlights) and now the keyfob is A-Okay!

In my 05 4R Limited I've had no problems these past weeks since installing the same LED that caused the problem in the Armada.

I think it is something to due with the circuity of the Retina Burner (RB) LEDs.

Now my folks want LEDs for their '10 4R Limited ;)
