I thought the stock tank was 16 gallons?

I was always told that it was an 18.5 gallon tank but you could only use 16.5, holding 2 gallons reserve and to keep sediment from the bottom and what not getting into the lines. I get like 295ish per tank and that's running it close to dry and im averaging about 18.5mpg.

I've gotten a little over 18.5 gallons in my tanks on a handful of occasions, never ran out yet, I'm less cautious about the 4runner cause its a gas car. I guess some people don't push theirs the way i push mine, or there tanks at slightly tweaked.

This! Might be a long shot but it's not uncommon. Open the hood and see how much slack is in the throttle cable. My '97 looked like a swing. Tightened the cable up and it was like a new truck.

Please forgive me for asking a newbie question but could somebody help me figure out how to tighten my throttle cable. Do I tighten the first or second bolt? Thanks

Loosen the nut on the left a little, then tighen the cable up buy tighening the nut on the right. I think...

I tightend mine up last year. It was an improvement. I also did the trans kickdown cable the same way. The trans kickdown cable is really a transmission pressure cable.

Don't mess the cruise control cable unless you are having issues with the cruise holding the set speed.
