Lake Trip

Satisfaction! Finally took the Runner out to the lake. Drove right on in. Didn't take many pics, but plenty of video. I will extract some pics from that, and my pal who went with me with cut together a decent video. I will link it when it is ready.

Over severe washboard this truck+tires (nokian) is a dream.

With the lift I was able to clear all obstacles. I had my friend spot me in 3 locations, and now that I am comfortable I can do them without.

I made it a point to try some drivetrain combinations. Best case is 4x4 low, locked center diff. A couple spots where I needed ATRAC I recalled the info learnt here "keep rpm about 2500, steady, and let the truck do its thing". This made me uncomfortable in at least 1 spot. When traction came about, I was getting my wheel to the top of the root base of a tree, but needed to stop on the apex to make sure I didn't lean over and touch an obstacle on the other side. Until I get a better sense for this system I will have to be cautious.

we went to a nearby lake for trout (and caught nothing...technical errors). At least we had a great swim.

Good flex for stock. On par or a bit less then my 4x4 Ranger.

more flex...this is up by the cottage. The river I need to cross to get there is extremely low this year. Looks like fall water levels!

I should 'mod' my sig...2.5 F&R daystar spacers + 265/70/r17 nokian vatiiva. I was pretty sure the running boards would suffer, but they managed! Glad they can stay, required by the older folk I need to drive around.

I love the terrain...and virtually no other people.

Again, I hope to get some better "wheelin" pics out of the video. Hopefully we can piece together some comical story about the trip and link the vid.

In this pic I am placing the wheels, and honestly expected rushing water up to around the hubs!

Allot of time was spent clearing this. First time thru with a 'regular' vehicle (i.e. not a tractor etc) this was really grown in.
