It's his vehicle.. he can do what he wants with it..
Thanks. Hey I love your truck, where did you find those clear tails and side markers??? I thought you couldn't make a 4runner look pimped out with a bush bar and lights in front, but yours looks so clean! I think I might just get the bush bar and see how it looks on mine ( but in high polished brass of course ).

Thanks man, I'm glad you like my 4Runner, yeah I wasn't sure how it'd look with the brushguard and all so I was just trying different things, but it turned out well. I got the clear corners & tail lights from www.burtmanindustries.com

You can get clear corners and signals form ebay for under $50 shipped.

IMO Lambo doors are a bit much for a 4Runner and you might spend that money on the other goodies if you haven't gotten a jump on wheels and tires then decide on the doors. Bigger brakes with bigger wheels is also a big deal with safety in mind since larger rims add considerable weight for the stock puny brakes.

Is your Runner a 4wd with diff lock? if yes, you'd be better off using a 2wd as a street queen since bigger rims put undo stress on the 4wd parts and will just lead to premature wear and more cost.

I'm just against takiing an truly off road SUV and taking away it's 4wd ability when there's plenty of pavement pounder SUVs that are ripe for the oversize wheel crowd and all the other street bling.
I'm a performance car guy and love to race an most of that silly stuff simply ruins that performance when look are the most important thing;I guess some of you guys just love the attention.

I'm just not into mods that put form over function and hurt the intended performance;oversize rims that are three to five or more inches over the original rim size hurts about very performance aspect of that vehicle.

it also does look silly to see 20"+ rims with puny little disc brakes or worse yet, drum brakes behind that flashy rim.

I figure if you're going for the mall crawler look (I don't get brush guards and tailights guards for the mall tho') then do it right and still keep some of the original performance by upgrading the brakes and do proper suspension upgrades.

I think I'll just stay out of this forum since all my opinions just don't jive here. :)

LOL mall crawlers!!! lets go attack those speed bumps with style! But for real, I will still have my stock tires & rims to put on when ever I plan on going off roading. I'm a nurse and I work too much to really have time to go 4X4ing.

I truly understand the ability of the 4runner to 4X4 I once had my 92 4runner with 31'' tires up to the bottom of the doors in swamp (I never got stuck lol until i stopped to decide my best route out). I also once apexed it on a two foot concrete barrier that was covered in snow and I thought was just a big snowbank (I would have made it over had it not been for the gas tank to get in the way).

So now I just want something flashy to show off (maybe even get into a car mag). And hey Ron if you have ever seen the models on the covers of the car mags they don't go with guys that drive some big 4X4 they like flashy (I should know I have some good friends that model on car mags). I make good money and it is not like I can tape a bank statement to my chest to show it off so thats why I want to pimp my ride.

I understand what you're saying Ron, and yeah I do love the attention my 4Runner gets, it's amazing. If I had an offroading 4Runner it would get little or no attention at all. Don't get me wrong they look awesome but I prefer the street look, and so does everyone else that I know. Now maybe if I had a 1st or 2nd Gen 4Runner I'd take that offroad. But my 02 is to clean and the condition it's in is great.. taking it offroad would ruin it, and rust it up.

DUDE, you've got to be kidding! You live in tenn. and dont think an offroad truck gets respect?!? something must be in the water THURRRR

lol... the only offroading vehicles I ever see are like old ass trucks with loads of rust or maybe a fairly newer vehicle that's in poor condition, I guess they get a little attention. But not as much attention as big shiny wheels get...

well

Maybe you give the flashy mall rides more attention than the off road vehicles, so that is what makes believe they get more attention. That is what you like so of course you pay less attention to the rock crawlers and "muddin" trucks that live here in the great state of Tennessee, however I am the opposite. When I was younger I had a 98 Pathfinder that was 2wd and it was G-ed out. Had subs, 20s, pretty much your exact truck but the Nissan version, now though I like the more subdued look of a off road performing vehicle that matches the manufacturers purpose in designing the vehicle and because of this all I notice is off road ready vehicles and pay little attention to big wheels, like a Cutlass that needs a lift kit to clear 26s. :iagree:

I'm somewhere in the middle however. I want it to look better than stock but without "pimping" it out or adding "Dubs" and I despise the person who even thought of putting lambo doors on a 4runner. I'm going to put new rims, but only 18's so i don't lose performance. And if I raise it, it will be to add a few inches to my ground clearance, not to fit my 24's or 26's. I think some people on here play with their 4runner like it's an escalade. But to completely contradict what I just said, everyone has their own opinions of things, and I dont think they should be criticized for what they have done to their vehicle. (Except for lambo doors, that's idiotic.) Maybe they don't like what you did with your vehicle, so complaining about theirs is completely useless.:guitar2:

here here I AGREE.. i have often told this to my wife.. however if you are married you know they will never understand (most of them), that to some people, mostly guys, cars are an art form. My vehicle is an extension of me, who I am, the phase I am currently in throughout my life, etc. Its an expression, whether it be loud or subdued, whatever it may be it is thought out and purposeful. I can not bash someone elses, well except some like lambo doors on a 4r. Now lambo doors on a M5, an NSX, hell an audi TT, uh RX7 maybe, whatever.. anyways, we all have our own style.. I wear jeans and tshirts everyday when I get out of my unifrom but that does mean I bash people that wear a suit and tie.. I feel sad for them cause thats expensive, but still.
To sum it up - to each their own
