Lame question: Transfer case Crossmember

I just picked up my 4runner a week ago, looked it over real good, checked all the usual. well come to find today while trying to locate a rotational grinding noise that there is no crossmember under my transfer case, I'm pretty sure there should be one. If anyone knows for sure could you please verify for me that there is one there. Sorry for such a lame question.

Oh yeah. its a 1997 4runner limited.

I dont have one on my 98. the last cross member is at the back of the transmission.
