I've debated LC vs 4runner myself, both "apples to apples" and "if money were no object". As stated above, it comes down to specific needs. In my situation, I want a Swiss army knife of a vehicle and my 3rd gen is just that. The LC is bigger, which is both a positive and a negative. It has more power, but also more girth and weight, and worse fuel economy. The LC would make a good Swiss army knife too, but the tradeoffs aren't worth it for me.

For a current model, the 4runner TE is a much better off road vehicle than the a US market LC200. Smaller, lighter, better angles, locking rear diff.
