Land Rover Experience

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I did the Land Rover Experience last spring in Carmel, Ca.

It was fun and I learned a few things. The best part was driving the hell out of a truck that wasn't mine, and doing some extreme stuff I never would have tried on my own.

The LR is nice, way more luxurious in many ways with lots of cool bells and whistles, but I wouldn't trade my 4Runner for it. The offroad electronic gizmos are cool, but don't give the user enough control. One of the coolest things is the air lift suspension that lets you jack up for off road, but keeps the centre of gravity low for better on road and less wear on CVs. What I liked the most was the sitting position. The seats are higher and I like the arm rests better than the 4Runner.

Land Rover have an offroad course at the Quail Lodge.

Ehh, even being a LR nut, although the Disco's/Rangies are quite capable, they will never be used for that intended purpose, as these vehicle's are heavily overpriced, Unfortunatley the Real Land Rover which gives the user full on control of the expierence isn't available in this country anymore, and soon production of it may be seized when EU Safety and Emmisions standards go up.

No, The Discovery is still quite capable, its just hidden under a thick layer of luxury.
