does anyone have some experience regarding the landcruiser against the 4runner offroad. I am thinking late 90s model
any big advantages or disadvantages?

'98 (first year of current generation TLC) or '99 TLC v. '98 or '99 T4R would be about a draw IMO. T4R with the optional locking rear diff combined with its excellent ground clearance and relatively skinny size would hold it's own against the TLC in most off-roading conditions IMO. Only thing that might make me think differently is I'm not sure whether a front locker was an option on the TLC those years, I'm pretty sure you could only get the rear locker. That said, the TLC frame is probably stronger and the std V8 puts out lots of torque. I still miss my old '98 Lexus TLC

No front locker was ever offered in the TLC100. The underbody of the TLC100 is also much cleaner than the 4runners.

I believe the three locking diffs as used in the FJ80 series TLC carried over in the FJ100 series only in other countries where the TLC is available with a six-cylinder powerplant instead of the V8. However, regarding the North American market, you are correct.

My understanding is that both the FJ80 and FJ100 series TLCs also have a superior ramp travel index (suspension articulation) as compared to the T4R, which combined with the cleaner underbody, would give the TLC the edge, IMO.

The solid axles TLC100 in other countries is actually a TLC80 with TLC100 shell.
