Laptop mount ... anyone use one?

I am too cheap to purchase an actual NAV system right now (and I am kinda waiting to see if the 2006 NAV unit will fit in the 05 since I really want the MP3 capability ...). So --- to hold myself over, I went to Best Buy and purchased a Garmin Earthmate USB GPS receiver for my laptop. I took it on a long trip and the thing works like a charm. Now -- my only problem is what to do with my laptop while driving. I would like to somehow mount my laptop in the vehicle so that I can see the screen ... but, also so that it isn't in the way of my passenger.

Anyone here ever use a laptop mount in a 4Runner? I found a few online --- but I would like to hear from someone who actually has one first to see if it is even worth buying.

By the way --- I would prefer something that didn't require drillling (although, I am sure that is going to be hard to come by)

The RAM-POD-III looks awesome .... and I am sure it will fit my needs. I was just wondering if anyone here has actually used on of those (or another one similar). Kinda wondering how well they mount in a 4Runner.


There are tons of $25-40 ones on ebay that have a single poll with a no-drill mount --- but they look to be of poor quality.

I use one that I bought from eBay and then fabbed a custom NO DRILL bracket into my 98 4Runner... is what you're talking about?

Excellent --- that is the perfect answer to my question. I was wondering what one of those ones that I see all over EBay looked like when installed. I like the idea of fab'in the no-drill. Thanks for the info and pics .....
