Large Dog Crates/Kennels

Hello everyone,

I've did a search for this and have been reading for the last couple hours but couldn't quite find the exact answer I'm looking for.

I am suddenly getting a GSD puppy somewhat unexpectedly and am racing to find a kennel. Yes I know there are other ways to transport him, but I prefer a kennel (Ruffland, Gunner, etc.)

My questions are:

1. Is there one that fits well without having to fold down the second row seat, but large enough to accommodate a GSD?
2. If not, I can fold down the passenger/middle second row seat section to give extra space while leaving driver side rear up -- which would fit best there?

Yes I can measure and read dimensions, but I'm hoping for one that fits with everything folded up and my google fu appears week this morning.

I've got a 22Wx32D and a 19Wx30D They fit fine with the 2nd row backs in up position.
I hunt with Brittany's, but in the larger one holds a 50lbs dog and large water bowl with plenty of extra dog room.
All you really need size wise is for the dog to be able to turn around. Especially for short trips. An hour 2 or 3.

German Shepherd?? depends. Some are huge, some not so much.
I found a lost one and crammed him into my smaller box. It wasn't a good fit, but got him back home in 20 mins. safe and sound.

Edit: I did a little bit of searching. The larger crate is an old Nylabone Brand and was labeled Extra Large. I used it years ago for traveling with my Golden then my Lab. Both around 80lb dogs. Normal trips were 5-7hours.

Edit#2 You're not going to be able to fit much deeper than 32". The solution is buy a crate with 2 doors. One front and one on the side. This way you can go really big. 32"Wx about 43 or 44"D

Petsmart have a few. I bought two wired ones from there big ones fit side by side perfectly in the cargo area and came with mattress. My 80lb GSP and 60lbs Boxer were pretty comfortable. .

Here’s my pup in an OG Gunner Kennel (before they had the medium size) next to a yeti 105. Plenty of room for both, can close the hatch with the second row up in a very comfortable position for any passengers.

I bought the Gunner due to the five star crash rating and certainly feels more strong/durable than the RuffTuff ones.

As for the context of this thread, here is another picture (actually the one I was initially looking for) of the loaded up kennel and yeti prior to our week in Kansas a few months ago..plenty of stuff, and plenty of room!

Posting this for people that search for this thread in the future:

If you put down the rear passenger/middle section, you CAN fit a large Gunner kennel in there with the rear drivers side seat up. It barely fits, with about 1/4 inch clearance on either side. But, that's enough that it shouldn't damage anything. Height is a little tight but you have about an inch or an inch and a half to the roof, shouldn't be an issue.

This pup should end up around 90 lbs so I had to get the large. The Ruffland Kennels are 6 inches less in width, but that sounds unpleasant for a 90lb dog, I don't know.
