Larger Tire with Level Kit only

ive got a bit of a problem. i have a '06 limited with the 18" rims and 265 60 18 michelin cross terrains. my wonderful GF ran over some nails and ruined the 2 ft tires(too far gone to repair yet have 9/32nds on them). the crossterrains have been discontinued. i also have a level kit in the front. i just scored 2 BFG Ko's 285 65 18s today with only 100 miles on them for "0". will they fit with no problems? i was looking at michelin LTX MS2 originally but if the BFG's fit them i might just get 2 more. will they be too much for the 4R?

They are too big for the lift you have (effectively no lift).

Those tires are almost a 33" (32.6), you will need at least a 3/2 spacer lift or more (effective lift relative to stock) to fit those tires. But they will fit if you did go this route. Overall costs are dictated by your ability to install the 3/2 lift yourself. If you can and would you are ahead in the game against the tire cost of replacing all four tires. If you cannot and you were to pay someone to install the lift then add the cost of 2 more BFG's you are about equal with just purchasing 4 tires to replace the 2 that were destroyed.

I think the advice given will really be dicated by how you use your truck. Does this truck go off-road? Do you want/need a 33'' tire? Do you want to keep the same feel of the stock tires & same gas mileage?

There are a lot of things at play here.

You will have rubbing for sure.. I have 255/70/18 with 2.5 front lift and spidertrax spacers. I had a rub issue until i did some trimming. The tire your looking at is 1/2 inch larger in diameter and about 1 inch wider and 1 1/2 inch larger in circumference than what I have so there's no way it's going to work without some lift.

crap, thanks for the responses. now i will have some decisions to make.

i am mechanically inclined(was a mechanic for 20 plus years). the 4 runner does not go off road, its a daily driver and sees some highway use as our closest family members live about 1/2 hr away. we have put about 20,000 miles on it in about 1-1/2 years.
