Larger wheels & ESC (or VSC)

I have a question regarding upgrading my wheels from 16" to 17" and what effects that moving up a wheel size would have on my ESC or VSC (or whatever Toyota called it on the 3rd gens)???

Problem is my wife and I have heard from various sources that using a different sized wheel than what came OEM will have negative to very negative effects on the traction control system and therefore my wife is VERY hesitant to let me upgrade the wheels on our 4Runner.

Anyone have any advice/evidence as to how upgrading will not mess up the traction control system...or if it will?

Has no one really heard of this crazy phenomenon? Am I the only one?! Sometimes I just feel like I'm stuck on a planet by myself, and occasionally my wife is there with me...(did that just sound really creepy/weird/...)?

When people say larger wheels, they usually mean larger tires.
There is no way that larger rims will effect vsc. I don't know about larger tires though, but I doubt it has any issues.

After my lift/larger tires, and many others here on the forums; we have found that the VSC/TRAC has still been awake and kicking, working just as it was meant to. That can also be a pain though, I put an override switch on my VSC/TRAC system.

I thought that. I've been running stock 265/70R16's as long as long as I can remember. We had a set of 17" snow tires (from my father-in-laws 05 Tundra that we were going to use for winter) back in 07, but he came out and trader us for a set of 16's he acquired because of something he heard of or experienced.

Well, I'm glad no one else has any inputs on this non-issue. I also did a pretty extensive google search on the topic and came up dry on that as well. So, I'm that since you're the only one to post anything thus far, that the issue is pretty much solved.
