Last thoughts on 1999 4Runner. To make offer?

Dark green sport edition.

Guy said truck runs and drives great.
No rust, back bumper and liftgate has some small scuff marks and a small dimple or two on liftgate from a relatives motorcycle. Interior and the rest of the body are in great shape.
Timing belt was done last August but the water pump was not replaced. He said he has had no trouble from the vehicle.
Guy is asking $5100.00 I was thinking of offering $4500 cash.

No It is an Auto. Anyone know what a small body shop or paint shop would charge to fix the spots on bumper/liftgate. Nothing special, just to cover them up were they are not noticeable?

you can replace both parts for about 600 so i cant see it being that much, dont worry about those spots

it's a ten year old car let it keep some of it's well earned character,:happens:.

and will happen again in the future, i can';t comment on the price as i have no idea where you live which can be a big factor in price ranges, does it have the locker? it already has a 1' inch stock lift on it depending on how you look at it. which is good .

I just talked to the owner and made him an offer of $4500.00. He accepted, and am going to drive and look at the truck tomorrow afternoon. If it runs and drives as expected, I will be the new owner of my first T4R. Waiting on him to call back with the VIN, and will run a carfax. Looking good so far. Actually looking forward to the 4hr drive ahead.

5100 is fair but 4500 is a really good deal if it is in good condition like you say. I also agree with dont worry about those spots. The tires alone ran around 700+

Yeah, the guy was a little hesitant to come down when I made the offer. I think he was shooting more towards $4800 but it has been on the market for a week or so that I know of and he said he has had some people come look at it. Hope it works out.

Take it to a mechanic!!! There is a place in Birmingham that will inspect a car that you are looking to purchase for FREE. They do a full inspection from front to rear.

I also suggest you have it looked over by a proffessional. I suggest your Toyota dealer since they deal with this exact vehicle all the time, know where to look for wear items ect...

I would suggest replacing the water pump if it has never been replaced.

Overall, it looks like a great deal.

I am not sure on the locker. I will check tomorrow. I would like to have a mechanic look it over before I buy, but I will be buying out of state and have no idea where anything is at. It is about a 4hr drive to where I'm buying, so that limits me on time as well. Will def listen when driving about the rear end whine

check for rust if the truck has been in MI it's entire life. My runner started as a MI truck and then down to NJ so it's seen it's fair share of salty roads and has the undercarrage rust to prove it!

Looks pretty nice on the outside for a 10 year old truck however. price seems fair
