Lawnmower vs. 4runner

My landlord ran his huge lawnmower into my car this morning... nice size dent on my front quarter panel. Looks like i'll be out of a car for a few days. I hadn't posted on the site in a while, so I thought I'd share the unfortunate news with someone!

Yeah. Got all his insurance info and i'm taking it into a AAA Approved body shop in town later this afternoon. Maybe i'll be lucky enough to get a rental car??

That is a big mower! If you lived in Ga my friend could fix it very well for cheap. Good thing is it looks like it only hit one panel, that shouldn't cost too much. Gets pricey especially when the damage gets spread to many areas.

Hope it works out for you,
Maxil

damn, I wouldn't want to see what the lawnmower looks like! So what happened? Did he give it a little too much gas around turn #3 and spin out or what?

Hammer that out and use the money for a Snorkel. :D or take the check and buy a new panel and try to get it sprayed cheap and still try to get a snorkel.

if he is going to wheel it alot or plans on it in the future, sure. if it is DD that doesn't see many trails, no point...bring it back to factory condition

I gotta wonder, which insurance policy would cover something like this? Surely, a lawnmower isnt listed on someones car insurance policy. So does it go through homeowners?

Dude, leave it and keep the cash! Then make up some story about how you were tooling around in Mexico and some crazy bandito's try to steal your ride and you fended them off and all the evidence you have is this dent in your fender!! Chicks dig that stuff!

Or just get it fixed....whatever!:bravo:

His insurance company is still trying to sort out which policy this is covered under. Luckily, he has all his insurance through the same carrier, which makes things easy for me. As far as getting it fixed, I got an estimate today for $998! I'll definitely be having it fixed, as this is my DD and wouldn't be able to stand the big ugly dent on a day to day basis.

$998... what are OEM fenders made of? I don't own a 4Runner yet, but I just checked RockAuto and fender blanks are $63. Buy one and have it painted by a local independent shop for under $100. If it's anything like my Ranger, you can have the old one off and new one on in an hour in your driveway with a 12mm socket. Work this deal out with your landlord... when you're done, take the receipts plus a little extra for your time and have him pay you cash. Way better than being without the truck for a few days, plus he owes you one for not causing him an insurance claim.

Landlord wants to go through insurance.. so I think I'm just taking it to the shop and letting them fix it for the full $998. Most of that cost is the time to blend the new paint with the existing on the hood, mirror, passenger door, etc.

I'll post pics of the completed work when it's done...
