LC coils have sagged.. now ugly rake :(

Haha okay so that was bizarre. I brought it to an ok tire i had been talking to, they put it on the hoist and call me back in, "uhh we cant lower your rear end, we would have to change the springs.." So i re informed them it was only the front end, then they call be back again "i dont think these are adjustable" so after showing them and promising them they were they tell me they cant do it because it will rub on too many areas (fenders - front and back, according to them, which i have already trimmed down). So they kick it out of the garage and im back to square one. They also commented on how hard it will be to allign because of the rake, and that the rake will cause my front end to dip way to low when braking.. as well that the suspension isnt right for the truck and tires are too big.. (285/75/16's)

Do you guys have any thoughts on this.. should i drop the coil to the lowest of the 3 perches or the middle one? i measured my height and right now it sits level (on one side). My left side is 40" to the fender on front and back while the right side measured 40.5" on front and back.

I think i may have to drive it to the "high quality" alignment shop thats a little out of town.. Or wait a few weeks until im able to bend over again..

Thats why I do all my own work. Set it too the lowest settings. Yes we all know 33's will rub without some modification.

This is such an easy fix. Take clips down to lowest level, align, profit. Just watch over the shop you decide to take it to like a hawk.

lol i know its insane that no one wants to do it baha. I think nobody wants to have to disaemble to strut in order to lower the snap ring and put it back together.. atleast my techs at work and the last shop didn't :sobbing:

look at Ameining's build thread. He has a pretty detailed write up on what you're trying to do and he just rented a spring compressor

Ah sweet thanks. I've tried renting 2 different spring compressors neither of which will fit between the coils. I can do everything except for the alignment and dismantling of strut myself but I just don't know if saving the 125 bucks (shops cost to do the work i can) is worth waiting a week or 2 until I can do it. And a few hours of my time..

After reading your thread Ive come to several conclusions...

1. that Dales alignment seems the most promising of your prospects as they seem to have lifted a Tundra before.

2. That bug guard on your hood looks horrible, I think you need to send it to me right away so I can "dispose" of it properly!

3. If you can find a couple of guys in the Vancouver area to help out for some pizza and beer it may be worth waiting a few weeks to save the extra $$ and know that it was done right. I know we got some peeps in Vancouver that could help. (unless you are a Canucks fan, then no one should help you at all! ;): )

JK... (Im an Avs fan!)

Hey Jeff, If your still looking to have the struts adjusted, I'd recommend (Goodyear) Ultimate Source Automotive in Burnaby. They reset the perches on mine for $30.

oah thats an awesome price, i will definitely use them, thanks!

Ive decided i will just go ahead and wait a few days then do it myself. One thing to ask.. i remember last time when i had to remove the lower stud (bolt that goes through the eye) there was a lot of pressure on it and i used a screwdrived to tap it out then once the bolt was out the eye of the strut snapped down on the screwdriver. Anyone have a solid method for removal. I use the reverse bottle jack technique.

Oh and duhockey there is one for sale locally for cheap.. say the word and ill grab it for you :)

GO NUCKS GO :ybrick:
