LC lift - Tokico trekmaster shocks

Ok I've done my homework on this for a while now and haven't found a solid answer to where im comfortable enough to order yet. I have a set of 8 wraps for the rear but need shocks.

I want to go with tokico trekmaster GE 4095. Just to make sure before I order them, do they need an adapter? Or does it just fit on as it is? (like the stock shocks but just bigger?)

I've also seen people get these for like $30 a piece. Cheapest set I've found online was $100 shipped for both. Any recommendations on where to buy would be great.
Thanks,

-Zach

brian2sun has been running the Tokiko TrekMasters with LC coils, shoot him a pm if he doesn't chime in

I don't think Brian runs the LC coils any longer. He runs an OME spring for a LC, but not the factory spring. I think he needed more spring when he added his CBI rear bumper and tire carrier.

Cool thanks guys just wanted to make sure before I buy them. So i wouldbt have to order an adapter as well. Gonna order a set tonight, ill still pm brian2sun for some reassurance. Any more people that can confirm this for me id appreciate it, not a huge deal but for some reason i thought it needed an adapter. I think on fightmans build thread he used an adapter for them but it must have been a different style of trekmasters. Thanks guys

let me know if where you order it from and if it goes through, i've bee looking for a long time, doesn't seem liek anybody has them in stock. And they're discontinued by tokico

Yes, exactly. I have OME 861s now which are made to give a small lift on a 90s Landcruiser.

The Trekmasters GE4095 will fit perfectly, they're just longer like prospectator said. If you take you rear sway bar off, you'll get more droop with these shocks. So you'll need to clearance your gas tank skid because your driveshaft will hit it (or you can just let the driveshaft bang it out of the way until it doesn't hit anymore). My shocks didn't come with the cone washers for the upper rubber bushings so you'll need to pick some up at an auto parts store. I couldn't re-use my old ones because the upper bolt shaft is thicker on the LC shocks (which is good because they're stronger).

That's what I heard too. When I got mine about a year ago, they were $80 shipped for the pair, but I guess that times have changed. I got them from autoanything.com. Try discountautoshocks.com too. I wonder what my factory lifetime warranty means now?

Cool thanks, appreciate the help. What do you mean by the cone washers? Does it go on the top of the shock on the stud? Are they different than a normal metal washer? I've been doing research and reading through some old threads about the LC shocks and a lot of what you said helped me out with this Saw some links you posted on where to buy, but all sold out. I think I remember you saying something about the washers and drive shaft too. I just ordered my set! Looking forward to it. Thanks again

No problem. The cone washers go on top, yes. They are sorta bowl-shaped and the bushings sit it them. So the shock stud has a cone washer on it (at least that's what I call them), then a bushing, then it goes through the hole on the mount and another bushing goes on top, then another cone washer, then the nut. I suppose you could just use regular 'ol flat fender washers, but the cone washers kinda "cup and support" the bushings a little more, lol. You could also just drill your old cone washers out too so they fit over the Trekmaster's shafts (I think that's what I did actually).

Ok, I'm 99.9% sure I gotcha. lol. thanks man I appreciate the advice. I'll most likely end up drilling out my original cone washers then. Gonna see if some people on the forum that live in the area can help me put the lift on....I'm pretty stupid and haven't ever done anything really mechanical besides oil change and deck plate haha. But yea I'll will definitely keep all that you said in mind. Really appreciate it

the front will be easy, hard part is the rear, we need a jack that can jack up the rear high enough to droop the rear. i'll see if i can ask my friend to do it at his house just throw some cash at his tip jar :thumb3:

WHAT? the rear is way easier and faster than the front. Take the lower bolt off the shock and find a little hill to flex the truck. The rear springs will fall out and then have someone hold the new ones in while the driver backs down slowly.

Brian and I did this a few times. Works great.

lol fronts are easy for me, undo LBJ take off strut put in new one, jack up LCA line it up torque and done, rear is easy too but you gotta deal with the PITA shock and pry your way to put in the new coils also gotta deal with sway bar sine he is 2wd

I have never heard of taking off the lower ball joints for the fronts either. Well maybe brian did, but mine fit and they fit with topout spacers. I forget there is a sway bar in the back. Mine is long gone. I swear the coils will fall out. Last time i did the little flex trick i went too far and had to chase my coil spring down the hill..
