Im fixing to purchase some LC wheels for my 4rnnr they are they 16x8 but I was just wondering for precautionary reasons what size tire can I run on these, I plan on getting a lift but not right away so im still sitting stock suspension on my 01 limited. I want something aggressive looking and was thinking about going with the maxxis buckshots. :thanks:

On stock suspension you can run 265/75-16 and the same will mount on an 8" wide wheel. Unless you lift before you install tires and wheels, 265/75-16 are it (unless you go smaller 265/70-16)

I am happy with my Duratraks 265-75-16's

For right now you could go with the 265/75-16s or the 70-16s like stated above... Just depends on what year you have. Some years sit higher while others sit lower.

After your lift I suggest 285/75-16's as they fit perfect with a 3" lift. I myself have 285s with the lc wheels and have no problem. Then again, I have a 2" body lift on top of the suspension but prior to the body lift they didn't rub at all.

I also have the LC wheels with 285/75/16 and a 3inch lift and think they look nice. If you plan on lifting it soon (within a year) I would try and wait for the bigger tires if that is what you are into. Post up some pics either ways.

Yea that is true I could wait to get the 285's and pics will be a littile late gotta wait til I get back from this deployment. I plan on doing a build thread or something with tons of pics. Im dropping my engine and tranny and putting in headers, ele. fan, bigger aterator, custom exhaust with rear simulator, OME coils with the LC wheels with Maxxis Buckshots.

Nice to hear someone talk about real performance upgrades.

Question: Do you plan to use a Flexalite kit? They make a really nice dual fan set up for our rad's. Do a write up if you do, I'd love to see your results. Some say to do the Ford Taurus or Lincoln Mark fans but I REALLY despise domestic parts. I don't trust my cooling to a domestic car part.

Thats when I really start thinking even more because I want one of the CS-144's, too :( But I'd be sad if it crapped out! Brother had a GM alternator on his 22RE pickup, broke quickly and Powermaster (I think that's the name of who made the 22RE alt. conversion kits at the time) went out of business.

So... reluctant to say the least, but I'd love to see your results and possibly follow.

COB as much as I want to agree with you on the flex a lite fan b/c that was going to be my first choice but everyone I have seen use those fans had nothing good to say, all I heard was the motor quite running after 6 months or the blades would crack plus I didnt feel like dropping almost 300 dollars on a fan that I didnt hear but bad things from vs the mark 8 fan that I purchased for 64 dollars and I have the relays and wires laying around so I come out cheaper just gotta do the mounting for it. Have you checked into doing the CS-144 mod your set up should be the same as mine just splice the new wire harness in and take off the engine mount to the alternator then mount back on engine and you should be good to go. If that doesnt work then have you checked out Green Machine alternators. I will def post alot of pics of my tear down and build up.

p.s -- you were saying your brothers alternator crapped out on him did he happen to have it off a late 80's or early 90's model car if so I heard that GM was having a hard time with their alternators

Yeah, that's what I've been hearing about the flexalites too... I just was hoping for a good review because I really wanted to justify them.

The Mark 8 fan looks like it fits really well, too. I just hope they're reliable when I get to that point (likely after supercharger is finished)

I forgot to mention that the truck with the alternator issue was crashed last year and rots in my garage halfway fixed. Sucks though... underdrive pulley had to come off to spin the alternator, even with a custom underdrive billet pulley. Those 2.4's, even with cams, e-fan, MAF conversion, full exhaust/intake, and way more stuff, still gutless! Haha, oh well, not my truck! At least it's reliable... as long as my brother can keep the front end out of the back of other cars.

Yea I have to pull the SC off and put new oil in it and to put on my new nose cone for it as well but COB whenever you get ready to put the electric fan on your 4runner I suggest going on some mustang forums and checking those out for it, thats where I got mine at. I sometimes wish I had your engine b/c of LCE and all the mods they have for it. I would like to do cams on mine but everyone tells me not to even spend money on it unless I want to get into serious rockcrawling which I dont just the occasion mudding

I was initially kinda bummed about having the 2.7 until I came upon the same realization. That's why I am cool with my recent supercharger purchase. I mean, I don't plan to sell it, and I don't mind putting forth the extra buck for more power. I'm about to have mine rebuilt just before install with a set of LCE teflon gaskets. Glad they make them.

But jeez, you're right about the cams, even though I have 2 less than you, that's still $600 a cam for my motor. I'd be down for the power just for the freeway alone. Hate how long it takes to overtake someone (if I even can! lol)

Yea I wish LCE and more company would produce stuff for my engine and its esp. bad when everyone stops making headers like downey for my engine so I purchased OBX :/ which I heard mixed reviews over so well see how that goes and I def. didnt wanna pay 700 for doug thorleys. I love having a import but have come to realize that it comes with a price to mod it, but its all worth it in the end I dont ever plan on gettin rid of my 4runner.

Go with the 265-75-16 if it's going to be your DD, thats what I did and I love the outcome. Only on RARE occasions do I wish I had the 285's, plus the 265's save at the pump EVERY time.

Here are my LC80 wheels after I painted them and got my new tires:

That is pure ignorance. An attitude like that is going to cause you to miss out on many great deals, cars and parts.

I'll make it simple, Crown Vic fans are installed on millions of cars, I've never heard of one failing, in fact it would appear any OEM fan failure is quite rare.

Second, tens of thousands of Vics are used every day by Police and Taxi companies who abuse the day lights out of the, idling for hours at a time, A/C full blast on hot running V8s in dense cities in places like Houston where it's +100 any given day.

Trust me, if there was an issue with the Crown Vic fans, the world would know about it.

That looks awesome, dude.

I appreciate your knowledge, I am well aware of what they're used for and the conditions they endure, I'm not an ignoramus :). Their fans might be good, but that doesn't mean that those cars aren't meticulously maintained to keep running. I am sure there are plenty of parts that go bad on those cars just like the rest of the Fords that the public often own.

Power steering failure seems to be a huge hit with the Mustangs, Explorers, Aerostars/Windstars, Crown Victorias, and Rangers I get on trade here. I don't ever search for common Ford issues, really, but I hardly ever get one that isn't just loaded with issues. I have hardly any good experience with them. Our 2 shuttle busses (2009 Ford E series conversion busses) always break down and our 1998 F150 parts truck is on it's death bed with 120k miles on it. I've got a whole section in my parts department dedicated to motorcraft parts just to maintain a pretty awful fleet.

But really though, a fan is one part. What other Ford parts are we retrofitting to a 4Runner? You can understand my position for wanting to avoid their parts if I hardly see any of them in working condition. I wouldn't call this ignorance, rather negative experience.

I don't though, fleet vehicles are notoriously poorly maintained. They get run hard for 3 years and sold off for pennies. This saves operators thousands, and is also why u see 2008 Police Cruisers with 280k miles on used car lots for $4k.

As you stated, PS pumps are bad, and as the rest of the world knows, their Fans are good. Be a smart shopper an not a brand snob. Buy wants good, avoid whats not.

Also, I'd rather my PS pump go out an fix that for $40, than have my frame rail rot in half or accelerator stick ^_-

Here, we meticulously maintain them. We have 75 techs on hand at a given time and a 74 bay shop on the 1st floor. They're also washed daily. We do not drive the vehicles further than 3 miles round trip, they're only for shuttling employees to our employee parking lot. The run consists of the freeway for one exit, a right turn and to our lot. Then, the bus only has to coast back downhill to the dealership.

The F150 has been with the company longer than I have, but it's not doing so well. We've also got an airport shuttle van that we recently had to replace because of constant break downs, which isn't good when you're shuttling your customer.

You made your point, the fans are worth using, with only 23 posts, why so antsy to put yourself on the bad side of the forum? I always appreciate helpful feedback, but the names aren't cool. I didn't criticize you and I don't think you should criticize me.

Thank you for correcting my mistake, but no thanks for calling me a snob. I like to use Toyota parts where I can, and last I checked, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Since you are so knowledgeable on the topic, I assume that you're a Ford owner?
