LCA Differences?

So we have a Tacoma right now getting the frame replaced and the LCAs aren't horribly rusted (they get replaced as part of the campaign) so I was thinking of snagging them to rebuild.

The part number is different than the 4Runner/FJ LCAs, but I don't see anything that looks significantly different.

Anyone know if they'll work fine, I know usually I'm the guy that has that answer; but I don't have a second set to compare it with at the moment.

I want to say that the UCAs are the same, but couldn't tell you about the LCAs. If I remember I'll take a peek under the Tacoma tonight when I get home.
 
UCA's are actually different spacing between the bushings making them different but to get back to the LCA question, the bushing part numbers themselves are different when I researched rebuilding my LCA's.
 
So the bushings are different, but if the arms are the same it should just be a matter of putting 4runner bushings. I actually have my stock 4runner UCAs, if I get adventurous one weekend I'll tear the Tacoma apart and check just for the hell of it.
 
Take some measurements of the taco arms, I have some OEM 4runner arms I can measure to compare to. If it's a matter of swapping bushings and ball joints that you'd need for a rebuild anyway then it may work.

Out of town tomorrow and Sunday, but I'll dig the caliper out on Monday and see about taking some for comparison.
 
Well, got the bushings and LBJ out. It seems to measure the same as the 4th gen LCA so far. So I'll get it powdercoated and ready to go.

Debating if I want to do OEM Rubber, Poly-Urethane, or maybe even Delrin Bushings. Anyone have opinions/experience? Also anyone make some beefy LBJ beside Moog?
 
I have camburg uniball "Tacoma" UCAs on my 4R because they were on sale, but I think they were also the same part # as the 4R ones. It was a tight fit to get the inside washers on, I thought that might be normal, but haven't had any problems.
 
I used Raybestos 505-1435 grease able. Went with these as I did a lot of research on the BJ design and others posting about the life of Moggs. These have the same Solid Ball assembly like OEM.

Also went with the Poly bushings. Took out the high speed braking hard shimmy I was getting. Was at 108k on the clock at the time.

I tried to find more about the Moog balljoints and I couldn't really find anything about shorter life or weaker design. Do you have any links?

What Poly-Urethane bushings did you go with? It looks like the WhiteLines seem to be the better overall choice vs. the Energy Suspension.

My search was over a few days on finding things (on and off this site). From what I remember, it wasn't specifically (MOOG) but the design of the balls.
Moogs wasn't a SOLID BALL ASSB. like an OEM joint.
Had a shop comment on the LBJ I had as he said these are what they use.

As far as the bushings, I didn't go into any search on them, just if I was going to be changing them, went to POLYs. Seems like aftermarket arms are using them in theres. Besides, when you look at OEM bushings and moving parts, they have directional movement/flex. Seems the purpose on steering sections, you don't want alignment areas to have movement. Went with ES.

The tight fit washer is normal, I had the same problem and I've seen others as well both 4th and 5th gens.
