Leaking Rear Diff Option?

I've been putting off replacing my rear axle housing as the JB Weld has held it together for now, but I know the day is coming. It was only leaking in a few small pinholes in the differential cover.

Wondering if anyone has any experience with this product?

If not, does anyone think it could be a longer term solution? It could be cheaper for me than sourcing a non-rusted scrap yard axle replacement, given the salt used around here.

I have no experience with this product. If the rest of the axle housing is in good shape, and you have the tools and skill to accurately cut off the old 'cover', leaving a flat surface to weld the new 'cover' to, it looks like a good option.

Rest of the axle is in good shape.

I wouldn't do this myself, so I'm wondering if that would make it too expensive. I don't weld (yet), so I have no idea what it would cost to get it cut cleanly and welded on.

i've done similar. it's not hard if you know how to weld/fab. if not, then someone will have to do it for you. usually a machine or welding shop can do it. price? depends where you go.

thanks for the quick reply. when you did the repair did you remove all the internals from the housing? this is whats recommended with the barnes 4wd cover. i would kind of like to avoid stripping the axle down completely.
