Leaking Rear Differential

I had a small leak in the rear differential, my mechanic & I decided to try some JB Weld instead of replacing the differential. He cleaned the entire case up and sealed it with the JB Weld, 8 months later it's dripping again. I believe the leak is isolated at the bottom of the case and would really like to avoid replacing it, has anyone had any luck with another solution to something like this? I'm thinking of trying the JB Weld again, this time focusing on the area that is leaking instead of the entire case.

I would not use JB weld on my truck. There are better alternatives, like proper gasketing material. If you are talking about a crack in the axle housing, that is a whole different animal, and JB Weld would work in the short run, but should not considered a substitute for replacing the axle housing. Maybe some pics or more description of where the leak is coming from?

You should not JB Weld the 3rd member to the axle housing.
