Leaky CV covered under extended warranty ?

Well, was changing the oil today, notice the drivers side upper CV boot was leaking. I have the 7yr / 100,000 Extended warranty and was wondering if anybody has had any luck on getting this covered under warranty ?

Looking at the Covered Powertrain portion it lists :

Constant Velocity Joints and Boots.

But under components NOT covered it lists:

Axel Assembly Components : Constant Velocity Boot Band.


So if I am reading this correct, the CV and Boot would be covered, but the band is not ?

I have the exact same problem on my 2007 4runner. According to my dealer and the person at the warranty service company (I was on speaker phone), the BOOT is covered, and the BAND is not. If my boot was torn, it would be no problem to fix it; however, the band is not a covered piece, as it is "normal" for them to loosen up over time. FYI, I used a hose clamp and tightened it up over the band,then removed the hose clamp and that has taken care of my band issue. It was loose but not leaking on the drivers side, but the passenger side was loose had a small leak. Hope this helps!:hello:

Guess I need to crawl back under and see if the boot is torn, or just leaking out around the band.

Odd...

I got my CV boots covered under warranty.... The boot kits come with new bands, so at most they should I guess charge you like a dollar or what not if they really want to...
