leaky differential and bad axles

So i had my 91 t4r checked by the mechanic and he tells me that my rear differential is leaking like a siv. I also have two bad front axles. I was wondering if anyone has done these repairs themselves or if they had it done by a mechanic. Also what was the cost and the amount of time taken for the repair.

CV axles in the front are easy enough to replace (are they bad? or are the boots simply torn?) You can replace the boots and repack them with grease instead of replacing the whole CV axle if that's all that's wrong with them.

You'll have to be more specific with which part of your rear diff is leaking? The seals at the end of the axles? The 3rd member gasket?

he told me the boots were shreded and may need to replace bearings. On the differential, its leaking from the seals. I believe that I just need to pull the case off and reseal it. Any advice?
