Learning to powder coat

Any suggestions as far as where to start equipment wise??
Used stove
Harbor freight powder kit has good reviews
As far as sandblasting a lot of basic stuff has crappy reviews and those are $400+ from what I’ve seen, any suggestions.

Process doesn’t look to complicated
Powder gun
Compressor
Sandblaster
Oven

Eventually upgrade equipment as I get better at it. Any help is appreciated.

For one time or a couple I would think it would be cost prohibitive but if you a doing it as a new hobby then keep this thread updated wit pics. Would be interesting to say the least. Good luck.

This is a very cool idea. But personally, in my opinion, this paint will not hold up very well. Since I go to a good car detailing in Calgary. They advised me to better apply regular paint. Because in the course of washing this paint can fall off. What do you think about this? Won't the paint fall off or just go bad in the future?

so I used to powdercoat for a shop in NY. It is fun and exciting to do. some advice I would give you is to learn whatever equipment u use. im not sure about equipment cuz I just used whatever my friend had supplied for me but it worked well and we had a few different tricks for getting thos tight corners covered evenly and fully covered. another tip is to use a flashlight when shooting to see if there is any reflection of the metal.

I can tell you right now, you don't wanna cheap out on a sandblaster. Believe me. My work cheaped out on 2 of the 3 booths we have and we constantly have to chase a litany of problem with them, clogging and leaking sand most prominent of all - to the point they're almost worthless at times. Seemingly the cheaper they're built the more sensitive they become to what media you use and the settings needed to work efficiently
